Without Snyder, the Wildcats are a woeful 316-530-40; that’s a winning percentage of .375, or, if extrapolated over the course of the entire existence of the program, the worst winning percentage in the F.B.S. — minus young Florida International. The program is 146-73-1 with Snyder – a .667 winning percentage, two wins in every three games – with seven double-digit win seasons, three Big 12 North titles and, in 2003, the Big 12 championship.

Which brings us back to Thursday:
this game is the biggest of the year for Kansas State — the biggest of the second Bill Snyder era, without question. It’s not just about the bragging rights, though that’s certainly a factor. It’s also about Nebraska’s bolt for the Big Ten, which has not played well in Manhattan. It’s also about Kansas State’s Big 12 title hopes, which are more than alive and well — they’re thriving. Finally, it’s about Kansas State and Nebraska, Bill Snyder and Nebraska, for one last time.
