So how would you classify the offense

I mean obviously it's run based, but it's not geared towards any specific type of running game. I mean we run the option, run outta the spread, power offenses, balanced attack and even the wildcat... Would you have a specific name for our O, our just a balanced running scheme?

I was curious, too... Bo said "I know where I want to go with our offense" (paraphrased) but I haven't heard if there has been any elaboration. Has he talked about it any more?

sucky sucky sucky? idk its either that or bipolar. we wanna spread it our for most the year than decide to run it only to want to go back to back to the spread again.

I love how our offense is either stubborn, square-peg-round-hole type arrogance, or "bipolar". The opposite, you'd expect, would be "adaptive."

I would say its the kind of offense that's good enough to win ten games. Over pefformed in some situations under performed in a lot more. Ulitmatly it is an offense searching for an identity.

Sorry for the terrible spelling (I'm drunk)

The faster they get rid of the west coast the better, but if it's morphing into a offense where you have to settle for 4 fg a game it still needs vast improvement.

What I think Bo is thinking is that he wants the offense to be like the defense and be able to change week to week to the opponents weakness. That kind of offense might work once in ahwile, but if you can't practice the same offense week after week your not going to get any better.

A more difficult question than classifying the offense, is wondering where the offense will be next year.

Wats says they are going back to the Spread. Pelini says he wants a 50/50 team with a lot of power football principles.

Even though they could technically use the spread 50% of the time and power principles another 50% of the time, I still don't believe that these two are on the same page offensively. Bo seems like the type of guy who doesn't like to trick you or confuse you with formations. Bo appears to be the guy who wants to line up and hit you in the mouth with a play, even if you know what that play is going to be. Wats on the other hand appears to be the guy who wants to out-scheme you, and "take what the defense gives us".

I think I want an offense that takes what the defense gives us as well. Trying to take what we want didn't work out so well for Georgia Tech the other night. Iowa was stacking the box with 9 players at times. They should have tried opening up the passing game in the 1st half.

I think what we did in the Holiday Bowl is exactly what Nebraska wants to do with it's offense. The Zone Read with a good smattering of straight ahead power running.

There's been too many injuries and too little depth at the o-line to not take a wait and see approach.

The majority of this year it was pretty much up to Helu or Paul making a big play. If that didn't happen, we were sunk. I am hoping that Lee or Green can really pick it up in the offseason and come back with confidence and the basics to run an efficient offense. Because hoping that your defense can score is not an offense!

But I do have hope that each year from now on will be focused and our coaching staff will be able to recruit kids that will fit that model...not the other way around.

I will ask this again supposedly this offense hasn't changed in the last 5 years other then in the middle of this year. If Watson wasn't recruiting the kids he wanted for this offense then what has he been doing for the last 3 years?

I can't buy into the theory wait until he get the players he wants when he already was recruiting for the same offense in the last three years and Callahan two years before him.

Even when Nebraska ran the option-run with Osborne, he didn't always keep games close with opponents. There were plenty of games where Nebraska lost by 20 or more points and the opposing defense just straight up dominated our run game, making it look porous.

In my honest opinion, just because one team figured it out and shut GT down, it doesn't mean it's a bad offensive philosophy. Iowa just came to play that day and GT didn't do a good job over overpowering Iowa or executing their offensive game plan.

I prefer a balanced ideal. We need to be able to do whatever we want to an opponent, but we also need to be able to see weaknesses in an opponents defense and exploit them.
