Holy old thread dig up......Not so much perplexing as wondering. What is it that is so perplexing about that post? Some of us feel that 9+ wins and the chance to play for conference championships every other year is better than the possibility of a losing season and losing the sellout streak.![]()
I continue to be impressed by the clairvoyance that allows anyone anyone to state that we have to choose between Bo and his 4 loss floor/ceiling or a losing season/lost sell out streak.
And then what happened? To win a championship, we gotta get there first. Bo had us there 3 times.
There is no evidence that suggests that another coach could do the same.
i think that is the point. our teams have not looked very good for the past few years. 4 losses is the manifestation of that, but not the issue. the issue is that we are no longer competitive with the best teams in a rather weak conference.I think there's always an ebb and flow to the game. Record is always just going to tell part of the story. If you're not looking at the greater context, you're wasting everyone's time.
Agreed. The 4 losses number without context paints a rosier picture than reality.i think that is the point. our teams have not looked very good for the past few years. 4 losses is the manifestation of that, but not the issue. the issue is that we are no longer competitive with the best teams in a rather weak conference.
Certainly, we lost. Once horribly, and nobody likes that it happened. And then what happened? To win a championship, we gotta get there first. Bo had us there 3 times.

I mostly agree, except that I do fear that we wouldn't find someone better.Since the subject of Bo is rehashed in every other thread on this board and the same arguments for and against keep resurfacing, why don't someone who has the time just create a set of Pro Bo and a No Bo threads and those who argue one way or the other can just supply the links to support your arguments?
I am in the camp that many others have claimed to be in as well and that is I hope Bo can get it done. I would like to see him succeed but I have doubts that he has the ability to take us further than where we are presently. I am not worried about us being able to attract a top flight coach, nor am I ignorant to the fact that some institutions would love to switch places with us with only 4 losses a year. I however believe we should be able to get back to being competitive with anyone and everyone we play consistently. W - L records are only part of the equation in my opinion but seeing the same issues year in and year out without correction is quite another. If SE was good with another year or 2 to see how things progress, regress or stagnate, so am I and will support the team and root for Bo's success. I do reserve the right to complain about obvious things that will be evident to all of us as the season progresses.

Of course. There are no guarantees that Bo will continue to do the same or better either.I should have said that there are no guarantees that another coach could do the same or better.
