Just a few random thoughts I have about the game......
Cody Green totally got the shaft. At ISU we hardly let him take snaps. At TAMU, we benched him for an injured player. T-Mart was injured going in by the way. And everyone knows the only reason Green got to play at all was because Lee is out for the season with injury. I feel bad for Cody. He should have been coached up at the half and given a chance to make the throws that needed to be made to win this game. Dang. Our QB situation sucks depth wise, and, even with guys coming in, we won't be in good shape until 2012 at the earliest.
Bo Pelini is a great DC and a very good head coach, but he has to quit screaming at the officials and our players like a maniac. It looks stupid. And, at least when it comes to the officials, it only makes it more likely that we are going to get screwed by call after call after call. The officials definitely determined the outcome of this game with that roughing the QB call alone, but, even so, Pelini's rants were not helping.
This was a big game, and we blew it. We should have had the ability to score an offensive TD. It was like 2009 all over again. And, in the post game, when Pelini said this game didn't matter and we were moving on to the CU game, well, I disagree. An 11-win regular season would have been sweet. I didn't think we would go to the BCS title game, but I thought that we could win and keep our name in the national conversation. I was jazzed about just that part of it.
Colorado could very well beat us next week. They don't have a great team, but they hate us and always put their all into the game, plus it could get them to a bowl game. Even if we beat CU, I am worried about a rematch with the Cowboys. They are more explosive than the Aggies. And we only beat them last time because, well, they under estimated Taylor's ability to throw. Now that they know that Taylor can throw and that he is playing injured, the points will be a lot tougher to come by.
Lastly, this season seems destined to finish where the last one did... in an also-ran bowl against a lame foe, and that assumes that we make the Fiesta and play Pitt. I just am really frustrated at this point and am not looking forward to the rest of the season. DANG IT Nebraska. I wait all through Jan, Feb, March, April, May, June, July and August for this sh#t and it ends up the same way that last year ended up, with an offense stuck in neutral. Just end the misery already.
