Get to see the Shuttle go off Tuesday if all goes well. Everyone say it is a cool site and it will rattle the windows. Great to see we are back to space again. Didnt relize how much it ment to a lot of people here in Brevard County a lot of jobs and tradition with the space program here. ;)

Sweet. Are you allowed to take pictures?

edit: Well, I guess if you are at your house they might have a hard time stopping you!

The Space Enviroment Center is in Boulder and I'm going to be going over there with the local astronomy club to watch the launch from there. It's gonna rock, not to mention a day off of work.

I stood outside of my work at Rockledge Health and Rehab Center to watch it. Rockledge is about 8 miles from the launch pad. I couldn't see it lift off the pas but I you can here it. It was like a sustained thunder rolling over head. Then all of a sudden I could see it mid sky bright light with a hudge exhaust trail behind it. Saw the rockets split off and then you could see the shuttle curve into space just a little small light then nothing. It was surprising how fast it got up there. It was something else to see expecially in person . B)

The space program is a HUGE waste of money. Do we really need to go study Mars or run a probe into a comet? How many starving people could the money blown on space travel feed? That's all I've got to say about that.

I kind of agree with you that a lot of money is spent on some questionable things, however I beleive that there are some things that NASA does will benefit us maby not right away right now but will benefit us in the future. If NASA is cut it would cause many lost jobs. But I do agree somewhat that the government needs to spend money better. Look how much money was wasted for the Clinton Monica scandal. What people do behind own doors is there own business, doesnt mean I agree with it but govment no right to use my tax money on something for a persons affair or investigating someones rocky marriage President or no president. Sorry I get kind of opinionated when it comes to politics. Im a middle ground left and righ with strong views, the ability to express our views makes this the best county to live in. :horns2

I think the space program is worth it. As florida said, I believe the work done now will benefit the human race in the future. The missions they go on now may seem dumb and trivial, but I believe they are laying the ground work for some technology and gaining knowledge that will be very valuable in the future.

Agree its pretty overrated. As eveyrone was glued to their TVs watchin it I was taking a nap. Then I asked them "what did it look like? maybe every other space shuttle launch in the history of space shuttles??! hmmm?"

And oh yeah, anyone who still believes we actually landed on the moon back in the 70's let me know, i have some flat globes to sell you.

Rather than flat globes how about some proof there, Toad :)

I don't really want to get into that debate though, I don't really care what anyone thinks either way, just trying to prod ya.

I got to see the launch from the Space Enviroment Center like I said earlier and that was freaking awesome. Got to see live views of the sun at several different wavelengths and saw a coronal mass ejection go off that would have probably have grounded the shuttle if it had happened 10 minutes before.

BRT

is that HUA syndrome chronic or just acute  Nah just funnin'

When it comes to guvmint i can get kinda cynical also come on a 500 shovel, 1200 toilet GEEZ

We need to start paying our taxes in the items the govt pays for those items. help keep the deficit down and the govt will not have to buy all those expensive tools and ancilllary items we take for granted at the HOME DEPOT and LOWES

I grew up with sputnik :smokin then mercury, gemini, apollo then??? It was kinda cool to lay in your backyard in Lincoln and watch the satellites pass overhead at night now there are all in geosynchronous orbits how boring. u know LaGrange points.

From what I have read,Africa has wasted over 200 billion dollars in aid since, really, they started recieving it. The money isn't going to the people, it's going to corrupt leaders and the like.

Giving money to places like Africa is a good idea if you can guarantee the money and benefit of the money goes to the people who need it.

Oh, and as far as the moon landings, you might want to read this: http://pirlwww.lpl.arizona.edu/~jscotti/NOT_faked/. It wasn't in the 70's either :dumdum
