Penn State President Graham Spanier on Monday touted the academic advantages of joining the Big 10 and assured University of Nebraska-Lincoln faculty the move would be beneficial.
For Penn State, it literally was a "game changer," said Spanier, who was UNL chancellor from 1991-1995, before joining Penn State.

iread this...the thing about our enrollment is by entering the Big 10 we now have greater access to Chicago and Minniapolis. Two large cities where the local schools tuition is high and Nebraskas is low. It's the reason i went to Nebraska. Even with out of state tuition, it was cheaper than staying in state in New Jersey.. Enrollment at Nebraska will grow quickly. It's also in Nebraska's bvest interest to raise their own tuition.

A huge portion of the students at Iowa are from Chicago, so I can see your point.

There are many students from the Northeast (New England to New Jersey) who attend Big10 Universities I assume because they get an Ivy Leagueesque education without the Northeast tuition and other high cost of living. They have high education standards and expectations.
