If convicted of armed robbery, a New York man may be nicknamed Squirt by fellow inmates for trying to hold up a restaurant with a leaky water pistol.
Frank Traina, 36, was charged Tuesday for the attempted robbery of a Chinese restaurant on Long Island Nov. 25, the New York Post reported.
The defendant produced what at first appeared to be a gun, said Nassau County Detective Lt. Raymond Cote. When (the restaurant owner) saw the water dripping out of the barrel, he realized he was in no danger, except of getting wet.
The would-be thief bolted, with restaurant staff in pursuit. They managed to get a partial license plate number, which led to Traina's arrest, Cote said.
