Team Updates - pre-Spring Edition

International Man of Mystery
Sam McKewon and Brian Christopherson tweeted several things about the team heading into Spring Football. As you probably know, Nebraska kicks off Spring practice this Saturday.

@swmckewonOWH

Expect to see a lot of Imani Cross this spring. He's going to get a long, extended look at RB.

‏@swmckewonOWH

OC Tim Beck: "“I feel like I know what I'm gonna get out of Ameer (Abdullah). I want to see what I can get out of Imani.”

@HuskerExtraBC

Injury notes: As expected, Taariq Allen won't participate in spring ball. Tim Beck says Tyler Wullenwaber (knee) also probably out. #Huskers

@HuskerExtraBC

Beck says Wullenwaber "could probably be involved in some things." But: "We need him to be 100 percent. It's probably 90."

@HuskerExtraBC

T. Allen? Ahead of schedule. Beck: "We were hoping it might be fall ball. And here, probably by the end of spring maybe he'll be cleared."

@HuskerExtraBC

About left guard, Beck says: "It's open. It's probably the most open position we got."

@HuskerExtraBC

Beck lists off Mike Moudy, Jake Cotton, Ryne Reeves as LG options. Also don't count out Pensick if Paul Thurston makes a move at center.

@HuskerExtraBC

"There's a lot of little pieces in there that you're just not sure exactly how they're all going to work out," Beck said of O-line jobs.

Here's a link to Sam's article where he fleshes this all out a bit more.

Its great to see Beck more involved with the offense and building these guys and making the best move for the players and team. O-line should be solid with the talent we have and Cross should be tearing the field up with Abdullah. Offensively I think we will be more than fine. I would love updates on defense :)

Thanks for the info Knapp!

I'm really looking forward to seeing Imani get more carries this year. As much as I like the way he runs the ball, from what I've read, it's his work ethic that makes him stand out.

Season hinges on the DL. Hopefully VV is what we think he is.
Valentine and Randle being 100%. We need more than one DL that cause cause hell for the OL. With the talent at DE, we could be a brutal force. Could be, being the key word. Lol

This is the reason why I think both of the freshmen rbs will redshirt, barring injury to Imani, or Ameer. Cross will be a great change of pace back. The future sure looks good at rb for the Huskers!

I think this will be a recurring theme for Pelini's entire tenure here. The Huskers will always depend on the DL - maybe a little too much, or so it would seem from last years breakdown.

True, but I think it's even more important this season simply because our schedule is set up for a decent run. Everything about his defense relies on good defensive line play. The last 2 years were average, and just bad. A competent defense (and DL) last year puts us in the rose bowl at 12-1.

If Bo can't break the 4 loss cycle this year, he's going to lose support from a large segment of the fanbase.

(In before someone blames TM)
