Thanksgiving and an early Christmas wish

The holiday season is beginning as the football season heads into its final few games.

In that spirit, here are a few things that I am thankful for as a Husker fan (and no, I am not being sarcastic)

I am thankful we found a way to sneak past Wyoming, Northwestern and Michigan. Without those close wins, we are 4-6, not 7-3.

I am thankful we played Illinois and Purdue this year instead of Wisky and Ohio State or we would be 2-8.

I am thankful we lost to Michigan State. Let's face it, we would rather find a way to end the season on a three-game win streak (two wins and a bowl), instead of back-to-back losses in the CCG and the bowl game like we did last year

And finally, here is my Christmas wish....

That someday soon I can feel confident that our team can compete with some of the top teams in the country. Right now, I don't have that feeling. I don't feel like we are a top 25 team. I realize that we are not rated right now. But I feel like that is a deserved condition and not something that's just related to bad luck and injuries.

Does anyone on this board really think we could hang with Ohio State, even if we were healthy? I think a straw poll would say 70 percent would indicate Ohio State as the clear favorite in such a match up.

Let's hope that changes soon.

I just wish we could play a clean, four-quarter game against a solid opponent. One where we were switched on all game, finished every tackle, didn't turn the ball over, didn't drop a bunch of passes, and actually won the turnover and field position battles.

I think the OSU matchup would end up being interesting. But we probably end up losing to them by about 20 points. The emergence of Carlos Hyde from his suspension early in the season gives them an extra edge and makes it so the oft injured Miller doesn't have to shoulder the burden of being the no 1 run option.

I do like the fact that we pretty much dominated both lines of scrimmage today. It's just hard to dominate the full game when you're out there for almost 40 minutes.

For a holiday themed post, this is very cheerful

Ok, How about this....

I am thankful we can finish this season 10-3 and look forward to watching this young team improve. See I am trying here.

I fully expect to see Nebraska beat Penn State, Beat Iowa, and then take down Oklahoma in the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl. Assuming the BWW Bowl would take us rather than Minnesota given that if its vs Oklahoma, the story and the fan travel for that rivalry game.

This is my Christmas wish. If we could play against OU that would be so much fun. Both teams have fans who travel and this would get lots of press. Plus I think we could beat OU. THAT would also be fun!

Would be better if was at the Orange Bowl. I'd like to see us play OU again, though.

I hope like hell we can win out and win our bowl game, we need this to give this young team some more confidence and help with recruiting. Wouldn't mind seeing us play OU either, that's just icing on the cake. We play Texass and I'm gonna freak out................don't know if it's possible, someone mentioned it in another thread.
