The holiday season is beginning as the football season heads into its final few games.
In that spirit, here are a few things that I am thankful for as a Husker fan (and no, I am not being sarcastic)
I am thankful we found a way to sneak past Wyoming, Northwestern and Michigan. Without those close wins, we are 4-6, not 7-3.
I am thankful we played Illinois and Purdue this year instead of Wisky and Ohio State or we would be 2-8.
I am thankful we lost to Michigan State. Let's face it, we would rather find a way to end the season on a three-game win streak (two wins and a bowl), instead of back-to-back losses in the CCG and the bowl game like we did last year
And finally, here is my Christmas wish....
That someday soon I can feel confident that our team can compete with some of the top teams in the country. Right now, I don't have that feeling. I don't feel like we are a top 25 team. I realize that we are not rated right now. But I feel like that is a deserved condition and not something that's just related to bad luck and injuries.
Does anyone on this board really think we could hang with Ohio State, even if we were healthy? I think a straw poll would say 70 percent would indicate Ohio State as the clear favorite in such a match up.
Let's hope that changes soon.
