The Definition of Realistic

Win at least 11 games consistently. Even if thats just every 3 years I think we as fans would be happy.

Win a conference championship every 3 or 4 years would be nice.

Winning the division every 2 to 3 years shouldn't be too much to ask for either.
So we'd be happy being Alabama or Ohio State.

And that's about it.
That's a solid tier below Alabama or OSU. That's Wisconsin territory.

This team has lacked discipline, "fire", and toughness for years. Their sloppiness and lack of killer instinct allows inferior teams to stick around. The majority of time they come out flat and not fired up and ready to play. I can't understand how these guys are so flat week after week. I've come to accept that this staff just isn't championship-caliber. Beating the cupcakes and losing to any team with a pulse is what I've become accustomed to; it's the norm and what I expect.

True enough. In the 10 years since Bielma was hired Wisconsin had 11 or more wins four times. They also had two six loss seasons and two four loss seasons. Three conference titles, albeit assisted by OSU sanctions. I'd take it. I'd take Stanford's last decade, too. But that's still a mighty high standard that's rarely satisfied.

To that point: Bielema goes 12-1 his first year at Wisconsin. Then 9-4 his second season. Then 7-6 in his third season. At that point is Wisconsin trending down because of talent or an over-rated coach?

We needed more Louisiana speed, AMIRITE?

Guy Chamberlain said: I mean, you're expecting talent that's as good as any team in the nation, and who give 100% effort on every snap. That's more of a dream scenario.

I expect a few players to get in trouble with the law because they always do, under every coach at every program.

Coachable? I think the players that don't take to coaching don't get much playing time. Then we wonder why Coach is wasting that speed, size and athleticism on the bench.

The realistic expectation is that the Huskers are a strong contender for the Big 10 West every season.

Anything beyond that is certainly possible, just a bit more hopeful than realistic for the next couple seasons.
1. Talent that's as good as anyone...that's recruiting, not dreaming.

2. Giving effort every snap, that's finding the right players within the recruiting.

3. Sure some players will get in trouble, but it is expected that they'll do things the right way, that's called discipline.

4. Coachable means they are open to learning, and in reality, not all players are.

5. Realistic expectations for me are consistently being in the hunt for conference and national titles and then winning a few every now and then.

6. Nebraska was 7-0 heading into Wisconsin. They get to that point next season, then get over that hump, who knows what could happen.
