The "only uniform change" that should be considered...

Everybody wants the "black" so we'll look all menacing and what not...

If anything, we keep the current uniforms, and make one slight addition.

Either have it done all season or the game before Veteran's Day, everyone on the team has a unit patch from a Nebraska National Guard Unit or Reserve Unit to honor those serving their country.

IMO that's the best and only uniform "change" that needs to take place. I know i'd be "stealing" a page from Army, but it's a nice touch, and reminds folks of our service men and woman.

Hooah!!

I agree

:yeah The only bad thing about that is, most patches are too small to see unless you are standing next to someone. But as a veteran, I am in favor of this idea.

Put it on the opposite Breast plate as the Nebraska patch. And there are other organizations that do this then auction off the jerseys. If we could do that and donate proceeds to Veterans Programs that would be just awesome.

Anyone know how this could get started to be an actual petition?

I agree...representing the service men is a classy move....any uniform change other than that i would only propose for one game just to stir things up, but no permanent uniform change ever...

:)

Great idea. If they do get some kind of fund raiser going the DAV or PAV are great organizations.

That'd be cool, and it's be even more awesome if it caught on and all 119 D1 teams did it.

I like that idea!

The only other change to the actual uniform that I like is shoulder stripes like back in the day of Johnny R.

As for the stupid black uniform idea... teams/programs that have no tradition change uniforms in order to increase interest. Why on earth would we do that? We have tons of tradition and tons of interest.

A patch honoring our miltary services would be fine. But not an actual unit patch. I agree with the previous post on this. You want to wear an actual unit patch, join the military.

You have to EARN the right to wear those patches. I'd be dead set against cheapening the sacrifices of our veterans by taking something like that away from them. Unless of course, a particular player had served in a particular unit prior to his college career. Then if the unit command gave permission, I'd support it. But for that player ONLY.

Adding a patch is fine. Just not an actuall military patch.

I can see the whole "earning the right" to wear the patches, but I was in the regular army for almost 8 years and I don't have a problem with it. If they did it on Vet's day, it's just a tribute to the servicemen and woman protecting our country. I'm saying use the Nebraska National Guard patch or a patch that represents all service branches.

I like the auction idea, and i'm sure there'd be no shortage of support.

But if you wanted to take it a step further, here's another idea. When I was living in Bakersfield, the local minor league hockey team auctioned off desert camo versions of their practice jersey's that they'd wear during the pregame skate. They could do something like that, and I think it'd do pretty well.
