I know you’ve all been waiting for this. Time for the Real Top 10:
10. Georgia. Gurley men on a roll.
9. Alabama. At the rate of this season, Alabama might be the first 3-loss team to play for the title.
8. Florida State. At some point, attrition kicks in. FSU’s rise is kinda like the guy who usually wins the gold medal in short track speed skating. When the whole field falls on its face, the guy in last “wins” the gold.
7. Baylor. Gerry Cooney still waiting for his first real opponent.
6. TCU. Remember when I put them in the top 10 last week before any other poll knew they existed?
5. Auburn. Two years ago, these guys were 3-9, ending their season with a 49-0 loss. They got a new coach and have lived in the top 5 since. Do you think a coaching change might help us . . . no, forget about it. What was I thinking?
4. Michigan State. Should have beaten us 48-3. Tough, tough team.
3. Mississippi State. I’m presuming Sylvester Croon is no longer coaching these guys.
2 Arizona. In the idiotic traditional polls, these guys would be rated no. 15 after beating the best team in the country on the road. Not in my poll. You whoop duck booty on the road? It’s like playing candy land and picking the card that launches you to chocolate falls.
1. Ole Miss. When you look at their body of work, it has been impressive. They’ll do fine until they lose to Presbyterian on November 8. These stories never have a happy ending.
