The Running Backs we Face the Year

Just throwing this out there but James White will rush for at least 1200 yards this year. I'm not saying he'll light up NU but he will get there.
1200 yards? How do you reckon, when he averaged 5.1 YPC and will be Ball's back up? Are they planning on trying to significantly split the carries? White rushed 141 times last year - he'd have to average 8.5 YPC on the same number of carries to reach 1200 yards.

I think Wilson helped Ball immensely, without star QB play this next year we'll go back to typical Badger football and White will play a much larger role.

He rushed for 1000+ yards as a backup in 2010 and that was with sharing the carries with Ball (900+ yds) who was a third stringer at the time. He's certainly capable of 1200 plus...even as a backup.

Capable, sure, but 1200 yards seems like an extremely high bench mark, even though we all know he's talented and will get plenty of touches. His averages alone paint the picture, as I pointed out earlier. He had 156 and 141 attempts his first two years, with an average YPC of 6.7 and 5.1, respectively. If he wants 1200 yards, given his averages, he'll need to have a YPC of 8.5 which is seriously unrealistic. Unless he's getting significantly more touches this year, it's unreasonable to think he'll get 1200 yards.

Even with a more "Wisconsin" brand of football, I believe you guys went through several coaching changes and are rotating in a handful of new starters on the o-line. Topple on a new quarterback and it's reasonable to assume a less prolific offense that has more execution problems than last year's squad.

Not saying 1200 yards is impossible for White, of course. His averages highlight the situation. He's not getting there unless he has around 200 carries. And with Ball on the team, that seems highly unlikely.

The kid outrushed both Clay and Ball in 2010 as a Freshman.

No Wilson. No great third option RB (as of yet). We're going to be running...a lot. He'll get his carries and he'll get his 1200. Bookmark it and make me look like an idiot later. :B)

And then got overtaken by Ball who went on to have a Heisman-esque season. If you think White is going to get 200 carries this year, then I think he'll reach 1200. If you think he's going to get roughly the same as his previous average, it's not happening.

I won't make you look like an idiot. In fact, I'll probably forget by this time next year. Just trying to stir debate because I hate once basketball season ends.

Even at 200 carries he won't get it. Averaging 6YPC? That isn't an Oregon type of offense. New OL coach, new OL...won't be happening. Abbrederis will have to be a one-man show without Toon. They'll rush the ball a lot, but not much more than LSU, Texas or Missouri whom you don't really consider running teams. If Wisconsin pushes 700 carries, and he ends up with 225 to Ball's 325+, then maybe.
