Maybe it's just me, but I've been too caught up in the drama of the last few weeks. Incessant stat analysis, posting here, reading the interweb, contemplating the various faults of Sean Watson and even BO, etc. And I'm admitting here and now that I've gotten a little mixed up by all the drama.
In search of some perspective, I decided to fire up some recorded games. I just finished up the Okie Lite win. Taylor, Helu, Paul, Reed, and Kinnie were just awesome in this game. As we all know, the defense did not have such an inspiring performance, but the *offense* saved the day, and in impressive style at that.
I feel so much better after living in the past for a couple hours there. Mizzou is up next...
We really need Taylor to heal up. He was really something else in that game. But what I'm struck by is that it wasn't only him. He was making the throws. Our receivers were making the adjustments on the ball and actually catching them. The line blocked well. The backs held onto the ball. Paul scored on special teams. The penalties were relatively under control. And even Watson's play calling looked brilliant given the production it delivered. It was a *team* performance. I have no doubt that Martinez's exceptional talent helped to bring that out in the whole unit, but everybody stood up and delivered.
And that's what we need from the whole offensive unit for the last 3 (not 2!) games of the season. Taylor will not be healthy and that will hurt. But the team that played in that game, against UW, against K-State, and against Mizzou can definitely win out, even with Taylor's injuries.
So I heartily recommend firing up the DVR or BT or whatever and watching some of this season again. It really brought me back some perspective. This season has been fantastic, warts and all. I'm happy as a pig in sh#t and we can still go 12-2 and leave with the Big 12 trophy and a BCS win (against some shmoe no doubt).
GO BIG RED!
And by the way, we're going to be amazing next year with a healthy and more experienced T-Magic. He's really special. Seeing him since the injury, I almost forgot just how special he was before it.
