Sad we cant recruit guys that even Southern Miss can like Lampley.

Miss seeing a Defensive Line actually making a push and cause disruption in the backfield.

Yep, not what I expected from this thread, but since it turned toward recruiting, I'll say this:

Anybody see that kid from Omaha that caught that TD pass for Oregon last night? Too bad we let him get away...

Are you implying that Southern Miss has better players (athletes) then we do??

Really??

How many Lavonte Davids, Fonzo Dennards, Burkheads, Cricks, etc. do they have??
I love how the guy lists the four best players on this team, 3 of which are graduating seniors, and then puts a little etc. on the end of that. LOL. Some of your posts make me laugh. You care to fill in more of those names? What if Southern Miss does recruit consistently more talented players than Nebraska? Or what if their coaches just develop lesser talented players better than we do? Anyone can come on here and name our best players and the say "etc." I hate to inform you that there are a lot of teams out there that don't just rely on 4 guys to carry their team. You gonna sit here and try to tell me that Burkhead didn't carry this offense this year? You gonna try to tell me that when we lost Crick our defensive line didn't fall apart? How would this team have faired without Fonzie and David out there? Yea, that's what i thought. Every team has playmakers, but lots of other teams get consistent play from nearly every position on the field. Not great play, but consistent play. Don't be surprised if Southern Miss comes in here next year and plays a tough game.

The OU game every year. Some of the best games in our history were played against them.

What other posts of mine have entertained you?

Naturally, if I was comparing top talent (which I was) I would point out some of our best players. In what situation, when comparing talent, would someone compare Nebraska's middle of the road players to Southern Miss. best players? That would be pretty stupid wouldn't it?

That would be like someone saying that we land similar recruits as Bama, and then the Bama guy pointing out Julio Jones, Mark Ingram, Richardson, Hightower, T. Cody, etc..... then one of us (you) saying "well yeah if you name off your top players".

Yes, if you set aside Nebraska's top 15 or so players, then I am sure that Nebraska and Southern Miss. have similar talent.

Anyone that actually thinks that we won 9 games this year with 4 guys, needs to learn how to reevaluate a football team, and all the contributing parts. Rex did carrry this team, but losing Crick?? There was no drop off there, although the play with Crick wasn't good either.

Good post bud.....

The OP was complaining that we can't recruit guys like Lampley. One player for them, who is a junior. It's not unlikely we look at Kenny Bell in two years and say I'm glad we can recruit players like him. It's not impossible for Southern Miss to have a deeper team than us. It is stupid to whine that our players aren't as good when we don't even know what we have yet.

Yes, Nebraska top fifteen players blow away any talent Southern Miss has. LOL :confucius Have you watched Southern Miss? They look like some decent players out there in my opinion. And yeah, your right. Fonzie didn't shut down the top recievers of every single team we played.........which I'd say shutting down B.J. Cunningham, McNutt and company probably did take some points of the board. He shuts down a whole side of the field and the teams best playmakers. Oh yea, and that Crick guy? Who the hell is he. Losing him didn't hurt us at all. LOL. :sarcasm

Top to bottom (including our best players), there isn't much of a comparison from a recruiting standpoint. It would probably be a great game, but there is a lot more going into the outcome of a game, more then recruits, and talent.

I know Burkhead is a beast and him David saved our winning season. But do you know what I really miss?? A back that can break one for an 80 yard touchdown. Not once but a handful of times in a season. ie. Ahman Green, Deangelo Evans, Cory Ross, Corell Buckhalter, Lawrence Phillips and so on.....

Where did I say that Dennard didn't shut down the other teams best receiver?? I didn't say that. As for Crick, he was having an Big Ten Honorable-Mention type year. The lack of pressure from the DLine was just as much a problem with Crick as without. The best game our DLine played was against Mich. St. (without Crick). Now having said that, Crick was a great player his first three years, and I wonder if his fall off in play this year wasn't more due to the fact that JP was coaching the DLine, and Carl was focusing on the Defense as a whole.
