I don't understand why the girlfriend or common law wife? who was suppose to be watching Haleigh Cummings did not have the door locked! I hope they find her real soon and that she is alive! Man this makes me mad! People who are suppose to be watching kids should put them first and keep an eye out on them and not be sleeping or whatever they do when kids are taken! If they do ever catch this person who did this to her...hope they nail them real good!!!

These days you never know if the parents or girlfriends, etc. have anything to do with this crap or not!! I still can't get over why she didn't have the D_ door locked period!! Hope the cops nail his or her A_S!!

I think your anger may be a little misdirected Niners. Regardless of weather or not the door was locked(and such is the case in many small towns where no one locks doors) the abductor is at fault. No way should someone get in trouble with the law for not locking a door.

People who think that bad things can't happen in small towns are wrong..bad things can happen no matter what the population of a town is. I never said anything about her getting in trouble with the law for not locking the door..but I do think she was very careless. She got up to use the bathroom or wherever she went and didn't notice that the little girl wasn't there?? No matter where that girl was at the time...she should of checked on that little girl! In my opinion she is not a responsible person at all and that little girl is gone! Any responsible sitter would of checked on that girl!!

Not that it matters..but Where did you hear that SHE left the door unlocked?

In the posted link, it says she woke up around 3AM and discovered her boyfriend's daughter missing. (And a brick placed on the floor to keep an unused door open.

It's unfair to rush to judgement yet..if ever.

Unfairly Prejudging by their living arrangement, I'd say they're probably working poor and need to sleep occasionally...

My first thought was one of the parents hired it done for custody purposes..but since there was no mention of the 4-year old boy also being gone..I sort of doubt it.

On a side note..I'm pretty big and scary looking..But I won't even open the door to anyone I don't know..And if the house is a mess, I don't even answer to anyone I DO know..

But last Friday night, I forgot to lock the front door...There was a "Hovies" pamphlet stuck in the inside of the door when I woke up at the crack of noon (Saturdays I try to catch up on the sleep I miss all week).

I hope the Jehovah's Witnesses in their White Shirts and brown ties riding around on their bicycles didn't look inside and think my place had been ransacked. :madash

This is where I read that the door wasn't locked. Scroll down the page to read that part. I hope she is found and soon. I thought I had heard that on the news about the door not being locked...but..double checked on the web to make sure and I was right. I saw the interview with the sitter last night on tv..was not impressed at all by the gal who was watching her...it was a kid looking after a kid. It is sad and tragic that this happened.

The woman said the back door to the residence was not locked at the time. Police found the door to the trailer home unlocked when they arrived, but there was no sign of forced entry, according to Donaway.

Cummings said, "We never use the back door and I check it every day."
Cummings said he has only used the back door two times since he lived in the trailer.
<_<
If they never used the door, I doubt they really checked it that often..

Anyone could have unlocked it while visiting, and I don't think locks are that difficult to defeat in mobile homes.

I remember going to a party as a teenager at a friend's trailer...I think her husband locked her out and then passed out...

I was able to quietly force the door open by bending the hollow metal door just enough to clear the tongue thingie..then pop it back without any tools.

I don't know why tornados even bother with mobile homes..they're so flimsy.
