Someone posted this scenario in another thread which I read last night, but I'll be honest I was a little under the influence at the time and have spent much of the morning trying to find the post to quote and say I agree with it, but alas I've been unsuccessful.
So this is what I hope happens for Nebraska for the rest of the season. We obviously hire a new AD, which sounds like will be soon, we have a BYE this week giving him time to "evaluate" the program and the future. I get it doesn't make much sense to fire Riley mid season, but what I hope happens is the AD informs us next week that Riley will not be returning for 2018, but he will coach the rest of the season, including a bowl game with a big if Nebraska is able to make the bowl game.
Since this season is in the toilet anyways, this would give everyone a light at the end of the tunnel.
