Thunderin' Bolts @ Minnesota

I wonder what the record needed to get a regional host spot?  Would 8-2 get it done with no loss against SDSU?  Iowa suffering another embarrassing defeat at the hands of the NDSU Bison, this time on the diamond, probably doesn't help the perception of the Big Ten.

 
The B1G is projected to only get 2 teams in. Nebraska to host had to win the conference, win 40+ games and maintain a top 20 rpi to be considered. Sadly, their out of the top 20 in rpi, they're not winning 40 and currently not winning the conference. So yeah... not even a flash in the committee's thoughts. What could have been "if" the players and staff didn't take midweek games off.

The Huskers remain in the mix for a regional host spot, but were not in the Top 16 in the latest D1Baseball Postseason Projections, released earlier this week. The Huskers are up five spots in the RPI to 20 after splitting a pair of midweek games. Though heavily in the mix for a host spot, there’s not a lot of wiggle room down the stretch with series remaining against teams such as Minnesota (124), Indiana (67) and Michigan State (110).

they are #20 and 1 game out of the Conference lead. The boys don't hold hosting as a huge goal like unrealistic fans do. For a School who has made 1 regional in 16 years, how about we get to one before jumping all the way to hosting? Lets get to the dance consistently then worry about hosting.

I know you're young and were never taught that winners hate losing more than they love winning.. It's the coddled way of youth sports these days in where every team is rewarded a medal regardless of the performances. That said... I'm sure the premier baseball coach in husker history whom mind you took over a program that hadn't been to the post season in well over a decade didn't and wouldn't agree with you. He literally would not have come to Lincoln "if" a commitment from the uni to build a "regional host ballpark" wasn't part of the deal. Van Horn won.. he expected to win, he talked about winning, he hated losing and he didn't and still doesn't make excuses when coddled players come to park with pathetically low energy and even lower expectations.

Yes... Winners set goals and expectations and Van Horn's expectation was to HOST regionals. So yes, I take offense to your snobbish and insulting remark to fans that expect the same things as the programs best ever coach expected. Now, take your losing youthful agenda to the dumpster and throw it away along with all the other woke BS the losing athletes of today game with. Winners Win, Winners Expect to win, Winners are pissed when they lose because losing SUCKS!! Winners set goals, Winners set expectations, Winners want to be held to higher expectations by themselves, their coaches and yes, the fan base. When they fail it F'n hurts to the core!!! Man.. post like yours just piss me off. Posts like yours are exactly what's wrong with Husker's men's sports today. Coddled, pathetic and a disgusting example of want and determination!!

I hate posts like yours because Most Husker fans are stuck in the old days. Husker sports hasn't been the same since the rest of the country caught and passed them in facilities, nutrition, strength etc. Nebraska was a pioneer back in the good ole days on this stuff,

well if we just did what they did back in good ole '95.

Doesnt work anymore and its one reason most of the top recruits from the state arent coming here.

The Big 12 in 98-02 is not the same as the Big Ten in 2024.

Big 12 was loaded back then. DVH won over 40 games and finished 5th in the Big 12 in 2009

40 wins runs away with the B1G any year.

Typical example of whats wrong with the Huskers men's programs. Women's programs openly talk about expecting to reach post season play. Volleyball "expects" to be in the championship game every year.. They're winners!!! Meantime, the men (like you) set mediocre goals and even less expectations. GTFO of the program if you don't want to meet the fans expectations!!! Not a single fan expects any husker sport, not even Volleyball, to be in the post season "every" year. What they expect is to see players competing with an obvious drive for winning. What the men are doing is playing with the goals of just doing enough to say they tried! Hopefully that lackluster effort is changing in football with leaders like the seniors that returned. Monday's Bolt show and sports nightly was PATHETIC.. Total pacifist and blatant avoidance of any subject matter. Why can't we win midweek games, because the players are a reflection of the coach and it's not a winners perception. They too hate fans like me @Husker Baseball 2025 hence why they won't host.

We don't have one single player on a full ride and nobody with an NIL deal worth anything.  Yet the SEC, ACC and a quarter of the Big 12 use NIL to give all 40 players full rides plus spending money. Brice and Max were only ones with NIL last year worth anything.  Arkansas, Kentucky, Ok State etc are offering kids full rides plus a minimum of 10K all the way up to 100K to go play there. You can't expect to compete at that level regularly. the top 16 teams host, we will never be a top 16 team no matter how much we hate to lose. sorry.

we don't spend like the other programs. Guys like McConnahey, Worthley and Daiss are going to have 4-5 offers on day 1 of the summer and we will be thankful if they come back.

Remember when Urban Meyer ticked off the late Joe Tiller and others with his recruiting practices that brought the Big Ten kicking and screaming to the modern era in football?  I'm hoping USC and the rest of the Pac-12 schools in baseball don't tolerate baseball as an afterthought in the Big Ten and do a little sabre rattling too.

 
We go scoreless in top of 1…. Sears gets 2 quick outs, then a weak single, followed by an error, then base hit gives the Gophers a 1-0 lead on an unearned run. Sears then gets big K to end inning with 2 runners in scoring position
