time to earn some respect this week

All-Conference
because clearly no one has any for us. its sad to see that 7 ranked teams lost and we didnt move in one poll and dropped in the other. I know everybody says they are the polls and it doesnt matter......... but aperently we dont matter right now either. time to win it back!!!

sCUm fans are already starting to run their mouths about how good they are. It's ridiculous because they got lucky by some stupid plays from OU.

There is little else in the world that brings more joy than a frothing, foaming band of Buffies shooting off in the mouth just in time to watch them crushed by a lesser opponent. Go Baylor, let's see a repeat from last season. They'll make about as much of this 'signature win' as I make of that generational vacuum cleaner that's been rotting in the attic since the second Great War.

we have still yet to prove we are better than average, we gave ISU 102 offensive plays and TOP way over the top. although the result was OK, anyone else worth 2 sh#ts would have kicked our a$$.

we really have a looooooong way to go on defense. the next 4 games will be telling!

and it probably did not help that ISU's signature win for the year was over Iowa who got hammered at home by Indiana

Not that it matters much now, but exacly who should Nebraska be ranked ahead of based on pre-season polling (it should not matter, but does) and results year to date? I think a case could be made that Cincinatti, Clemson and Purdue for sure (I'm mixing polls) After that, I think it's all debatable -- somewhere else someone wrote that the Ball State game is lingering, that's probably true -- and the defensive stats nationally are not helping either -- the original post was spot on -- just gots to earn the respect by winning.

We are not a National title caliber team right now. Although it would be nice to be ranked higher, it really does not matter. As long as the team comes together and wins the games we play we will be fine. The rankings do not help you win the north nor do they give you a leg up in the conference title game. If we were at the level of the LSU's and USC's then we would need to worry about the rankings.

I know some recruits may look at rankings when being recruited, but I doubt it is a major influence in the decision as to where they will spend their next 4-5 years.

After this last week it shows just how important and realistic the polls really are.

as everyone has said, winning takes care of everything, even the polls, at least most of the time.
