to continue a conversation from 2 years ago.....

The problems stems from the fact that after the Big 12 game 25 high school defensive recruit left voice mails that they wanted to play for this kind of defense.

Not only did Nebraska not receive a call from any kid on the offense wanting to play for this offense, but they also lost two recruit because they didn't want to play in this kind of offense. Now perception become reality and soon Watson is going to cost the program the longer he stays.

So if a kid is not strong enough to hold a block or dominate another player it is the coahes fault.

If a player drops a ball, it is the coaches fault.

If a player continously has motion calls it is the coaches fault.

Talent and depth, no one as good to replace what is not good enough to start with could be more along the line.

These kids have been changed around so many times they have no ide of what they are doing.

I said at the beginning of the year, we do not have a QB on the team. I still stand by that.

Zac was third/fourth string last year never hardly playing. You would think the staff would put him on the field last year, but they had no faith in his ability.

Graduate, transfer, injury and now he is supposed to be this world beater of QB. Not likely.

Until we can recruit talent and keep it at that position we will have problems, but having a line that was like a sive most of the year did not help.

Blame the coaches all you want, but it goes deeper than that. Not saying they are the greatest by any means, but it is not cut and dried that they are the only problem.

I honestly do not see much improvement for next year. Green needs a lot of work to do the job, or we will see 8-9-10 in the box all year long. I don't have a clue of what Spano can do, but I do not think we will see Lee become the greatest thing since sliced bread.

sounds like what we heard about our defense not that long ago. yes what you mentioned very well can be coaching. you are telling me that if TO was in charge of the offense they would still suck? we all know the answer

My thinking is that Coach Osborne approved of these hirings.

He was instrumental in keeping Watson on board.

So if you are saying that Bo is not doing his job I can live with that.

He is responsible for the whole enchilada.

I think talent lays as the real culprit. TO could make them better, but not to the leve they shoudl be at.

The line lost faith in Zac I think. Then Zac lost faith in himself, along with Watson and the rest of the offensive coaches.

Bo will figure out the offense, with help from Coach Osborne is my guess, but we need big mean nasty O linemen. Ones that control themselves. We need depth at Oline, heart and desire.

We saw an offense that played pretty good last year. We lost the spark plugs of that offense. These are the same coaches that had as a top 20 offense, did they just lose it this year?

Injuries, depth and drive seem to be the problem to me this year.

BC seemed to recruit less than Nebraska Players. He recruited wanna bees to the NFL. Never told them the work it took to get there. Bo tells the defense they are in for hell. Maybe that needs to move to the other side of the ball. But I honestly think the coaching is there, more of bad luck/timing deal this year.

I do not see huge changes in staff next year. But I see Bo being more involved next year.

I respect Coach Osborne as much as anyone does, but I saw teams of his that were not able to play with the big boys by any means. The difference is he played when Nebraaska and Oklahoma were the bullies of the mid way. That is not the case any longer. Every team puts a descent talent level on the field. A lot harder to be dominant.

But as you stated he certainly could help, when you are this bad something has to make it better.

skers, admire you greatly, and always fully consider what you are posting.

it does not change the fact that all that is currently said about our offense, is precisely what was said about our defense in 2007. where were the world-beaters on the 07 defensive squad/depth chart? We are Nebraska for chrissakes.... we always have atheletes. where is the coaching? (and ya, Oz ain't perfect - I lived thru many a year of whacking the little 6 and getting our butts handed to us by OU). all i'm saying is that he (OZ) can see noiw what isn't working, and help out a bit.

I hope beyond hope that Bo sees his next big hurdle as a head coach.

maybe his defensive prowess has become so powerful that he cannot control it from affecting every offense in the stadium... he's like an out of control defensive wizard, his spells are too powerful for even his own 'O' to overcome. :dunno

Maybe having the offense wear paper sacks over their heads would sheild them from the spell!
Or maybe lead buckets? :dunno

I lol'd.

I think the offensive problems were a loss of skill position players and injuries/depth issues along the line. I'm not ready to run the coaches out of town because one bad year and will give them the benefit of the doubt. I don't want this to become a revolving door program for coaches.
I agree. Let's never fire anybody no matter how outrageously inept they perform. Success???......who needs it?

The PostOffice is what NU wants to become!!
Uh....before dissing the post office, just remember that you can put a 44 cent stamp on an envelope and it will be across the country in a few days. (Try asking UPS or anybody else to do that for that price.) Actually, I want NU to be just like the post office and "deliver" on Saturdays, rain or shine. Even Bo can get in on the act, because after all, he DOES like going postal. I smell a commercial and a sponsorship.... :)

Hmmm.....yes, you have a good point (disregarding it's a taxpayer subsidized "business" of course)....Bo indeed does enjoy going postal.

I stand humbly corrected sir.
