Tommie Frazier honor

It seemed like (2003) in his limited/mop-up duty, he showed the ability to run at least a portion of the offense well, so much so that it had the "fans" calling for JLs head, and they wanted JD to start.

Oh how the times have changed.

I don't know, he didn't do much against Iowa State and he played pretty much that whole game. He throw a pick at S. Miss but I guess he did throw a TD against Utah ST. I don't even know if he would be the man for the job if we still ran Cotton/Solich offense. People also wanted Frankie London instead of Frost. Some fans always think the second team guy is better then the first string dude. I have this joker that sits behind me some of the games and all he did last year was yell for Dailey. This year all he did was yell for Davis(until Tech), the wrestler, or even freakin Glissman.

For the record I never called for either of the backups. Frankie "Freakin" London give me a break.

I agree with what you are saying about Dailey. However many times this year he showed good mechanics in delivering the ball. Other times he looked rushed and had busy feet. He needs to relax a bit. That might help. Somtimes it looked like he was trying to hard, if you know what I mean.
I do see your point, but I'm not sold on JD. I was either at every game or watched every game with the exception of the IA State game, and I listened to that on the radio, and it hurt every time I'd see JD miss guys running open all over the field. Half the time he'd throw into double coverage to a receiver he stared at from the time he received the snap.

Maybe I'd have more faith if I would have seen him improve over the course of the year. Some people want to blame the coaches, but the plays weren't the problem. It was Joe's reads, misses and turnovers that were the problem.

If Joe can come out next year and prove that he can run this offense effectively and cut down on his turnovers, I'll definitely support him. But, hey, we have 7 more months to speculate on that, huh?

Well, remember that Joe had to absorb an awful lot in a very short time. In terms of the West Coast offense - at least the complex version Callahan runs - Joe was little better than a freshman in there.

Think about it - he had to get the play call out correctly, do his pre-snap reads, audible into one of his "get out of trouble plays" (which he had to know well enough to be able to recognize which to call and when), do his reads at the snap, remember the routes for all receivers for that play, go through the progressions, and make the throw.

That's a ton to remember and execute - and he had to do it in mere seconds.

That's something that only time and experience will bring. I'm not saying Joe will ever be able to do it - just that I would think any first-year quarterback thrown into that system for the first time would struggle.

Having that under his belt, though, and the opportunity to reflect on it all and go through spring ball - who knows? The light may click on, and he may do well. It may take another year - it varies from player to player. It may never happen. My point is that I don't think we can judge him on this year alone.

As for arm strength - I don't see that as much of an issue. While downfield attempts are important - if for no other reason than to keep the defense honest - the majority of the throws will be short to intermediate.

Time will tell...
