Troy Dannen from UW will be the new AD per ESPN. UNI grad/AD. Then to Tulane where he hired Willie Fritz. Came to Washington in October where he swiftly hired Jedd Fisch from Arizona. Now at N. Midwest ties.

While in the American Athletic Conference, Dannen built a relationship with Nebraska coach Matt Rhule, who worked at Temple from 2013-16. They'll work closely together, as Rhule enters his second season in Lincoln.

Nebraska officials prioritized Dannen's Midwest ties and strong football background, as he's worked on the NCAA Football Oversight Committee, NCAA Football Competition Committee and also the NCAA transformation committee. He's also been a part of Big Ten meetings since starting at Washington, giving him insight into the workings of league.

"He's an Iowa guy who understands the values of Nebraska," a school source told ESPN. "He's also a sitting athletic director who understands the Big Ten and doesn't need to get caught up in the Big Ten."

ESPN

So he was at UW for under 6 months and bounced? Was that in an interim role? Just wondering what would keep him from doing the same thing if another program comes calling while he's at Nebraska.

Good question.  But:

A source close to Dannen said the decision was "deeply personal," as both he and his wife's entire family are in Iowa.

There are no guarantees in college athletics any more.  NONE!!  You just have to make the best hire and move on.  Borrowing from Bill Moos, everyone should have a list of where to go next for your next hire of any position in college athltics.  No era.

We're hiring an Athletic Director before we hire a President? Seems odd, since the BoR put the President directly in charge of the AD last year.

And this news breaks literally while the Board of Regents are meeting to (possibly) name a priority candidate for President.

Weird timing.

Assume the president is being announced soon as well.
