Trump 2.0 - Economic Policy including Tariffs, Interest Rates, Inflation, Trade Policy

Sorry, I assumed you knew John Deere wasn’t the only manufacturer of tractors on the planet Earth.   Or that we have figured out how to import perishable goods from South American countries.  Or that a threat of a tariff on Mexico if they don it do more to stem the flow of illegals through Mexico does more harm to Mexico than it ever would to the US of A.

Maybe your post was just an act though and I’d didn’t need to explain that.  Or maybe it’s not.
Funny how you must not know how any of this works.

You see, a farmer starts with a brand of tractor like John Deere. JD then makes all the other equipment to go with that tractor like planters, sprayers, tillage equipment…etc. all of this now is very high tech with computers and GPS  systems…etc. So, a farmer can’t just go buy a Deutz Fahr tractor made in Germany, because then non of his other equipment then works. So, he would have to completely change everything over to the new brand which would cost millions.

And, oh BTW, Trump wants to put tariffs on the EU too so that wouldn’t help anyway.

Thanks for proving you don’t understand this.

Well you could have actually responded to those points rather than asking a question that already got answered and explained in detail.

And you coulda not inserted yourself into a conversation by asking if one of the participants was dense or acting before understanding the conversation👍

You positive about this?   That someone with a current John Deere tractor can’t use the equipment from another manufacturer?

That's not entirely true. Most equipment from other manufacturers are interchangeable.

I did understand the conversation as I can read. This is a message board so we are all participants in the discussion. You regularly insert yourself when I make a comment that isn't directed or has nothing to do with you. You also regularly are obtuse on purpose. If you don't want me razzing you about it you are more than welcome to mute my posts.

“Razing”.  LOL.   Anyway.   I don’t care where you insert yourself (as long as I’m not physically there).   But when you try to insult poster when you don’t actually understand what’s being spoken about as the poster I responded to was wrong in his examples.

:worship  that was funny

Wasn't trying to insult you but I apologize. Neither of you are right or wrong at this point and the matter is still up for debate as to how tariffs will ultimately affect prices on things we get from Mexico. We shall see but one could just as easily say you are wrong. And that's fine if you think you are right and he is wrong but a better response would probably be an explanation as to why you thought such instead of asking why can't we buy things for cheaper if they can when BRB already went over that in the previous post. What kind of discussion does that drive? Honestly question.

Do you mind updating me if I still don’t know how this works given that parts can be interchangeable unlike what your story claimed?   I noticed you just kinda breezed past those posts the other day without a response.

Thanks for reminding me.  I forgot to write back this morning.  I have a farmer friend who has Case IH tractors.  He was telling me he wanted to buy a John Deere planter, but the tech at the JD dealership told him it wouldn't really work with his tractor.  So, that's what I based my post on.  I saw him Saturday night and asked him about it, he said they were able to get it to work.

So, I stand corrected.  The extent of my example was incorrect.  But, your nonchalant attitude of....well, we can just buy it from somewhere else still doesn't hold up with many industries.  Take mine for instance where I have explained that our industry uses some things that are ONLY made in China.
