Barry Turner is telling teammates on the NU sideline that his injury is a fracture and that he's out for the year.
The senior defensive end left the game in the first quarter. He's sitting on the bench with a boot on the lower portion of his left leg.

Turner, a senior in his second season as a starter, is eligible for a medical redshirt this year.

Looks like Pierre Allen, who has played well today, just got a lot more important to the Nebraska defense.

I feel terrible for the guy. Pelini said he'd been making great strides and he played very well last week. Hopefully he can fully recover and maybe get a med redshirt for next year. Just sucks that it happened on a freak play like this.

While this is horrible, Turner is eligible for a medical redshirt, he'll rehab, get stronger and faster and then we'll have that added senior leadership on the Dline that we would be losing. I think this could be a blessing in disguise.
