Turning A Speeding Ticket Into Jail Time

I once arrested a guy who refused to sign a ticket for parking in a Handicapped space. I kept explaining to the guy that signing the ticket DID NOT mean he was guilty. The moron kept saying "I aint signing this and admitting to the govt that I am guilty!". So off to the pokey he went. Instead of paying a 250 fine, the judge slapped a 500 dollar fine for refusing to sign the ticket and a 100 fine for my courtime. :)

Speaking of that, I had a guy that I recently cited for a handicapped parking violation as well. The guy comes in to the Chief's office to complain about the citation stating that he has a permit, but it wasn't in the window of the vehicle. In Iowa you have to have this permit hanging in the vehicle or in plain view so that a law enforcement officer can see this permit. He brings this permit in that's all beat to hell. It ends up being his deceased father's that he had no right or need to have. He just figured he would take advantage of the situation. The Chief files further charges for misuse of a person's with disabilities permit, but the dumba$$ doesn't so up for court. A warrant is issued for his arrest for failure to appear and he ends up paying around $1,000 instead of $182.00. It was great....................... :clap
