UCLA has a bye week before the game

If Beck doesn't go "Full Watson", we've got a good shot as long as the defense doesn't get smoked like Cheech and Chong...
When exactly did Beck go "full Watson" last year?
Oh say, from pretty much the 2nd half kickoff on. As bad as it was statistically, the defense made stop after stop in the 3rd and early 4th quarters, but the offense went into '09 mode for some reason and couldnt get a point. The the defense finally cracked.

It's true, he tried to get too cute 3rd and half of the 4th quarters. Then he figured out that UCLA could not stop the toss play. We marched down the field, up comes a 3rd down and 3-4 to go. Ball goes to Marrow, and yup you guessed it, he got stuffed at the line of scrimmage.

That still pisses me off to no end still.

just like last season it all comes down to the dline. we control the line of scrimmage we will win. they control the line of scrimmage and they win. hopefully we have gotten more athletic like has been said because last season they were clearly more athletic.
They have most of their starters back on the OL, and we will have an almost entirely new DL. I sure hope that isn't the deciding factor.

The extra reps might benefit us, if anything.
I agree, Dude.

Their line might even be more inexperienced than ours. One game versus Nevada and a week off isn't necessarily an advantage with that young/green of unit.

That's a good point, I hadn't even thought about it in terms of UCLA's inexperience. I was just thinking in general, that early in the season, getting more reps in (getting into a rhythm) seems to be more important than extra rest. Everyone is still relatively fresh, so it just seems like a waste to have a bye week that early.
