UCLA's Cronin blasts Big Ten scheduling after win vs. Purdue

"I want to thank the Big Ten for giving us five of our first seven on the road, bringing Purdue here on Thursday night when we don't get back in L.A. until Saturday night and giving us the team picked to win the league on two days' rest after five of our first seven on the road," Cronin said in his postgame news conference. "Really, I want to thank the Big Ten for that."

I mean the Pac 12 still kind of technically exists if you don't like it. the B1G threw you a life raft complete with lots of money and stability and being a part of the (for better or worse) most powerful conference. Every new member gets a trial by fire.

He isn't wrong for complaining but a quick look back will reveal that all new teams in this league get the shaft for several years. Being on the west coast will just exaggerate the fact.

One of the road games was Washington and was in December so it seems a bit of a stretch to include that in this complaint. Everyone (I think) played one road game and one home game in December. And they got one of their lesser travel games for that.

Also, it appears that the B1G tried to help by giving them two road games when they travel east so they don't have to fly back and forth all the time. They played at Iowa then at Wisconsin three days later. I assume they didn't go home between those. Then they had the same timeframe for games at Penn State and Ohio State. If he would like the B1G to make them make more trips across the country, I suppose they could do that.
