"USC just can't win all their road games"

i wonder what Idaho's inspiration for this game is, i mean honestly....they can't expect to win, they can't really expect to keep it close..i mean after 5 minutes this game will be a blowout.
Inspiration? For the athletic department, probably about $500,000.

For the players... a chance to play the in the LA Coliseum against a national power.
This game was originally scheduled because one of SC's former assistant coaches, Nick Holt, took over as the Vandals head coach. Holt resigned from Idaho season before last and came back to SC to help PC with the defense. Now that Holt is back at SC, there is no real, sentimental, or otherwise reason for this game. Frankly, I am somewhat embarrassed we are playing them, even if Holt was still there. It was a mutual attempt to build up the Idaho football program by allowing them to play a "big name" program. Thats my take on the matchup.

have you seen their defense?
Florida's offense didnt win them the title, it was their D....and USC's is nothing short of amazing
I'll say their front 4 and LBs are worth the hype, though Maleualuga tends to overpursue. Their DBs are still kind of young. Still, suffered 2 losses last year.

The '93 NU D was great, '94 was awesome, and of course '95 legendary. Even the '95 team let Wazzu score 21.

I'll concede nothing till the final gun.

No doubt USC has great talent but I believe the difference between them and the other top five schools is that coaching staff, I never thought Pete Carroll was a great coach but he has certainly surrounded himself with a heck of a staff

The rumors are that Carroll right now isn't even coaching the team. He has been photographed in the local papers here that he is in fact in Napa helping Lane Kiffin get the pathetic Raiders off the ground. So, it better be true that he has a great staff, because he's not coaching them right now. Frankly, with RB's transferring and going down to injury, I think I'd want to stay in LA and make sure the season got started.

On another note, most of those ESPN clowns picked Oklahoma to win the natinal title.

I'm sorry... with a frosh QB? Uh.... NO! What morons.

Only May picked USC. I think USC is May's little pet this year - just like Ohio St. was last year.
I thought the exact same thing. They have plenty of talent but a lesser of the evils qb that is a frosh. No damned way. I think Texas will rollthem. O state will give them a hell of a game along with the rest of the south.

Good luck !

USC is getting the Media curse already like Ohio St. and Michigan did last year. Look what happened to them. I just don't see USC being the powerhouse like everyone is saying, they've lost 2 recievers and thier starting tailback. John David Booty is so so, they will not go undefeated this year.

Texas wasn't good enough to win the MNC last year. They were dominated at home 24-7 by OSU and they only got the 7 because of a bad call by the refs. Texas' offense was totally shut down by the Buckeye's defense. Did you see Ginn burning Ross before the half, and they could not cover Gonzales either. Pressure McCoy and he will break, just like Major could not handle it. If you sit, he will pick you apart. Look at how a sub-standard Iowa team nearly beat them in the Alamo Bowl. Texas must have some of you Husker "fans" intimidated.
