UW/Syracuse Youtube Highlights

Five-Star Recruit
Sorry if this has been linked before. But, here is the highlight video of last week's UW/'Cuse game. I've watched this a couple of times and the biggest thing that jumps out at me and why I REALLY like our chances is how slow their D looks. Their linebackers are very slow to the edge and if/when the runner gets the edge, the LB's can't get to them until 8-9 yards downfield. I don't see how they will be able to shut down TM/Roy/Rex enough to win this game.

Hang onto the football and limit turnovers and we get on the plane with a nice road win, ready for another scrimmage and then conference play.

I saw a lot of poor tackling by Syracuse that led to a lot of Washington points. I also do not think most of Washington's offense is going to work against NU. The pitch to the left and pitch to the right all of the time? We have way too much speed to get to the edge. It also seemed like Syracuse had a lot of running room up the middle. It also looked like Syracuse was able to bring some pressure against locker. NU should be able to bring more and faster which will force some of Locker's throws. As long as we do not have a complete offensive meltdown with fumbles/interceptions or Paul fumbling on returns, we should beat the puppies by 2 TD's.

Great observation. Exactly what I noticed. However, we saw only a handful of Cuse' offensive plays, mostly the ones that worked. As porous and slow as the Orange made the Huskies rush D look, Cuse only ran for 112 total yards. In spite of that, we are a much stronger running team than Cuse, and our offense has tons of speed, which will be incredibly tough for WU to stop. Along with the speed factor, it was pretty clear WU had trouble with Cuse' mobile QB, so I can just imagine the fun they'll have with Martinez.

Two things I noticed about the Huskies' offense: 1 - Locker is a very accurate passer, but that accuracy comes at a price on hitting those out patterns - he floats em a little bit, and I think our secondary is gonna make him pay dearly for that. 2 - The Huskies are tough to bring down - at least 2 of those TDs were scored b/c of poor tackling by Cuse. I don't think that's gonna happen against the Blackshirts, arguably one of the best tackling teams in the country.

I know I'm a loser and have too much time on my hands, but I've watched that thing multiple times and I just don't see how there is any way we lose this game. Barring a total turnover meltdown like ISU of course.

UW's strengths play right into our hands this weekend and their D seems to be VERY vulnerable.

I might be the most optimistic guy around, but I just don't see us losing this game.

hahaha how bout playing some actual competition before thinking the huskies will roll over at home?

our only two losses at home last year were against oregon and LSU. against LSU, we outplayed them, but hurt ourselves with turnovers. against Oregon, theres no excuse, but your offense is not as good as theirs. i mean, not even close.

i'm not saying we'll win, but when you nebraska needs a second half comeback, you'll realize that the huskies are not to be taken lightly, and that, despite the preseason hype, the nu D will not be as good as last years unit.

and anyway, we beat syracuse pretty easily, despite spotting them 14 points with turnovers and special teams mistakes. i mean, we beat them by the same score NU beat idaho. doesn't mean idaho was ever in that game.

in the end, if you guys manage to avoid fumbles, you probably win. turn the ball over, and you guys are in for a long game.

Thank you, Captain Obvious. That goes for your Huskies too. Holding onto the ball isn't gonna be an easy task against the Blackshirts. Unlike previous seasons in which our D hasn't erupted as a turnover-producing machine till the 5th or 6th game, we're already there after game 2. Just in time for you :throwdabones1:

now, now, no need for name calling ;)

i don't mean a million turnovers, like last year against iowa state. i mean one turnover could be the difference in the game.

keep in mind, i'm one of the more level-headed husky fans saying that nebraska should be the favorite. as much optimism as i see on here, there's a ton of fans on husky forums that are pretty confident that the huskers are a bunch of overrated media darlings that are living off the hype from last year. either way, its just homerism on both sides, and i see this as being a very good game.

Keep in mind that is a ten minute video of highlights, the other 50 minutes of the game are not shown. That TD run by Nassib in the first drive was his only long run of the game. The Cuse RB Carter broke off a few decent runs late in the 2nd half, but we contained him most of the rest of the game.

My only point is that video shows the good plays for both teams, but you don't see the other 50 minutes of the game where we knocked Cuse around.

If we were ever down to Idaho 14-0, I'd be putting everything I own on UW this weekend. And um, Idaho is WAY better than 'Cuse. Just sayin'.

UW has a bad defense. Their strength on offense plays right into our strength, which might be the biggest strength in the country.

I wish you well and good luck tomorrow, but if we lose this game, we are simply not a good team, because Washington is not even close to an elite team.

Locker looks good. But if the Syracuse QB scored on the run just like that, I shudder to think how many big ones Taylor will break tomorrow. I'm thinking it's likely another 100-yard rush day for TMagic.
