Valentine declares for the draft

Can't say this bothers me too much. Although it could be argued that Valentine, more the Collins anyway, is making a decision based on his lack of faith in the defensive scheme. When Suh made his decision to stay and play another year, I think that was mainly a vote of confidence in the Pelini system. And it paid off as Suh got drafted high.

He really should've stayed another year. But best of luck to him in the NFL.

I think he is just betting on the come and not indicative of the coaches. He played in half as many games this year as compared to last year and had the same number of sacks. I'd say this scheme played better to his abilities.

Wouldn't be surprised if it was more not meshing with the new coaching staff and just wanting to be done with school. He already has his degree.

My decision has been made. Thank you Husker Nation for all the memories! #GBR

Hope it works out for him, but with the number of underclassmen declaring every day continuing to rise, it would seem his station would be pushed lower and lower.

The biggest factor in VV leaving NU is that he has earned his degree. He is probably just ready to move on from school and go on with the rest of his life. If that means playing for a number of years in the NFL, that's the best case scenario. If that means he doesn't make a team and he's ready to quit the daily grind of a football career, there is nothing wrong with that either.

I really hate this loss. Next man up I guess, we have some talent behind him just not as seasoned.

He really could have had a much better draft situation had he stayed though. Tough loss for us, hope he didn't make the wrong choice here. Good luck VV.
