I'm leaving for Vegas this Sunday. Just checking to see if anyone has any tips on places to go, must do's, best & cheapest drinking spots, strip clubs, whatever. Anything is appreciated.

Concur with DJR. Fremont St is the place to be unless your a high roller. Visit the strip to see the sites though. I am sure things have changed a bit since I was there last but the Rio use to have the best buffet and Circus Circus the worse. Use vallet parking to save time as some of the parking can be a walk. Valet parking is worth the few bucks you spend if you go to the strip, $5 is a decent tip, pay when they retrive your car. Stay away from North Vegas unless crime is your thing. If you take in any of the shows that your seat is not already assigned, tip the person seating you...the bigger the tip the better your seat. If you have never gambled, most places have a channel on your TV that will teach you the games and proper etiquette. You can learn alot from just watching as well. Don't be afraid to ask the dealers questions, they will help you. IMO, craps it the best game but most play the slots or blackjack. Last, if you like the topless dancing girls...."crazy horse too" was a great place when I was there last.

When I was in Vegas we stayed at the Imperial Palace, and the hotel right next door (Casino Royale) has maybe the greatest table game I've ever played. It's called Blackjack switch; you play 2 hands of BJ and can switch your top cards to match better w/the bottom card. Example: you get Ace/Ace on one hand and a 10/9 on the other hand, you can move the Ace/ten around so you have BJ on one hand and 20 on the other. The only rule difference is that dealer can hit up to 22; if he hits 22 it's a push w/everyone still in.
ESPNzone is a cool place to watch a game, but you have to pay $10/hour just to sit in their restaurant area w/all their TV's. If you eat it's not a bad deal, but if you and some buddies just want to drink it gets crazy expensive.
Don't really know about the buffets/food or the shows, we gambled and drank most of the time.

In my two trips to Vegas we've stayed at the MGM Grand on the Strip and at the Plaza on Fremont St (a dump you must avoid). They are both experiences to enjoy and everything is definately cheaper down on Fremont St. Yet the casinos on the strip are must sees. It is a lot of exercise walking between them so have a good pair of walking shoes.

Stayed at the Plaza back in May and it is a dump. $230 for airfare and hotel for 3 nights, so can't complain too much. Southwestvacations.com has some good deals usually.

I'm starting to get into blackjack. Went to Blackhawk a few weeks ago and came home with a couple hundred bucks. I play the slots too. A friend told me to play roulette, bet red or black. I might try it. I'm not a high roller, just want to go and have a chance to win a few bucks, drink for free, and have fun. Staying at the circus circus so I will avoid the buffet. Airfare and 2 nights was about $200 a person

One important thing if you need cash. Don't use the ATMs in the casinos (they're owned by the casino and the surcharges posted on them are outrageous!). When I asked the desk clerk where the closest Bank of America ATM was, she looked at me and said, "Do you have a car?"
Anyways, there's a Walgreens right on the strip, so if you need cash go buy a pack of gum or something small and use your debit card for cash back. Convenient and cheap.

A BJ on one hand and a 20 in the other? Yep....that's Vegas. Actually it kinda sounds like 24th & St. Mary's street in Omaha.
