Hodges replaces Skinner

Sophomore Brett Hodges, another 6-1 Floridian, was locked in a battle with Skinner for the backup position last season until he separated his shoulder about two weeks before the opener. In the world of double hypothesis, Hodges could have been Skinner, 2006 version.

At the outset of the 2007 season, he took over Skinner’s job with a quarter to go.

“It was really different, obviously,” Hodges said. “It’s so much faster. Just being right there, you’ve got to get the job done. Watching Riley do it and being my third year in the program, it was kind of second nature.”

Compared to Skinner last year, Hodges faced far different circumstances, trailing 35-21. Hodges completed 17 of 23 attempts for 130 yards and a 12-yard touchdown pass to Kevin Harris, his former high-school teammate in Winter Springs. That wasn’t enough, mainly because the Eagles smothered Richard Belton twice on short-yardage plays near midfield with 3½ minutes left.

I think we'll see what he's really made of on Saturday... mainly because I really think we can stop the run and make him beat us with his arm. They had what, like 2 yards rushing against BC. Hopefully our secondary can step up.

Yeah, their rush stats were underwhelming. And... what happened to their defense... allowing 30+ points? They did score twice, though... that's scary.

You gotta remember, most (if not all) of his passes were short and underneath. I really cannot remember any time Wake tried to stretch the field vertically.

Also, 2 of their TDs came defensively, so Boston College held them in check for the most part.

I still think Nebraska wins by atleast 14. I think we will run the ball and establish that running game on them and it will be close at halftime like 10-7 or 14-10, and then in the second half Lucky, Castille, and Glenn will keep wearing them down and bust some big runs.

I think we're talented enough compared to them where we can just line up and they will know what we're doing and we can say try to stop us.
