First, Watson. He is who we thought he was...a West Coast guy through and through. Those skills / exp. are marketable for the pro game or for a college team that runs the West Coast (don't forget, Bama wanted him a couple of years ago).
Next Taylor Martinez. His is who we thought he was...a athletically gifted, RSFr with major work to do to become a complete QB. We'll see if he becomes that QB but, questions I have are:
I don't know how it will play out but I'm optimistic. You only have to look at the progress from 2007 to 2010 to see why.
GBR!
Next Taylor Martinez. His is who we thought he was...a athletically gifted, RSFr with major work to do to become a complete QB. We'll see if he becomes that QB but, questions I have are:
- does he really want it? is he willing to do the work?
- is he humble enough? like a lot of star players out of h.s., their past success can limit their honest view of what they need to do to get better. are the people he trusts convincing him he needs to improve? is he listening?
- is Watson or his replacement capable of getting it done soon enough? Not only for NU's purposes but I'd hate to waste TM's potential or the championship-level performances of our defense (see the last 2 years). Not to mention, I'd hate to waste the careers of guys who DO fit the mold on offense (Burkhead, McNeill (whoops), Kinnie) or the opportunities for future Huskers (Carnes, Turner, Bubba, A. Green).
I don't know how it will play out but I'm optimistic. You only have to look at the progress from 2007 to 2010 to see why.
