As a quick thought experiment, I looked through our last 7 years of results. I personally think a huge online contingent are taking this game WAY too hard, and that it was a great, enjoyable, memorable game that doesn't really mean jack at the end of the day. You can disagree. That's totally alright.
What you can't disagree on, though, is that we have been on the positive side of these kinds of games a lot over the last several years, and rarely on the negative side. Dare I say that in a sense we were due? Here's the results of games that were decided last minute since 2008:
#7 Texas Tech - Lost 31-37 after an interception in overtime
Colorado - Won 40-31 after school record 57 yard field goal and then pick six by Suh
Clemson - Won 26-21 after a sack and two incompletions on Clemson's last drive to score with a minute left
#13 Virginia Tech - Lost 15-16 on VT's only touchdown with :21 seconds left
#20 Oklahoma - Won 10-3 on an intercepted Hail Mary
#3 Texas - Lost as time expired on field goal with :01 left
Iowa State - Won 31-30 on an interception in double OT
Penn State - Won 17-14 as Penn State turned the ball over on downs with less than a minute left
Wisconsin - Won 30-27 after Montee Ball was stopped on 4th down and fumbled with less than a minute left
Northwestern - Won 29-28 after NW missed a field goal to win it as time expired
Michigan State - Won 28-24 on a TD pass to Jamal Turner with less than 10 seconds left
Wyoming - Won 37-34 on failed Hail Mary attempt by WY as time expired
Northwestern - Won 27-24 on completed Hail Mary as time expired
Michigan - Won 17-13 on turnover on downs by Michigan under a minute left
Penn State - Won 23-20 in overtime on made field goal after PSU missed theirs
Georgia - Won 24-19 on Georgia turnover on downs with :31 seconds left
McNeese St - Won 31-24 on Ameer Abdullah's superhuman catch with :20 left
Michigan State - Lost 27-22 on Armstrong interception with less than :40 seconds left
Iowa - Won 37-34 in overtime on Kenny Bell touchdown
I might be missing some, but holy crap. 11 straight games and 12/13 that were decided at the very end and we won. We've been fortunate. Maybe that's why some of you are taking this so hard. We've come to expect that we just win these sorts of things all the time now?
