A thread to discuss the recently irritable reCaptcha, owned by Google, which also owns YouTube, and Alphabet. I am not a techie. I just know a bad thing is making a normal thing a PITA. And there is tracking involved with it.

Let's not make this political. It's for everyday people. Which we all are (except for techies that makes lots of money lol).

So If you do a search on the internet and you are not being asked if you are a robot, you will be soon. Once that happens, it will be forever (who knows? lol).

And you must select all images that are bicycles, cars, street walks, bridges and fire hydrants, etc.

Its total BS and it is sooo Annoying to have to do so.

Let's have a conversation about it here. ;):)
 
I started getting the question "Are you a robot" about a month ago on my personal computer.

In the last 7 days I started getting it on my personal phone while on YouTube.

Today I am being asked to sign-in to my account - just to watch a random YouTube video - on my phone.

I have not been able to see a rando video in a few hours because I keep getting asked to sign into my account.

Tracking much?

reCaptcha and Alphabet are screwing things up man. I hope nobody else is dealing with it. But I have a feeling some do, and soon many more will.

I’ll take a swing. While I understand the need for it there’s no doubt it is a PITA. There has to be a simpler way. Especially when one is asked to select all images of a bicycle and an extremely small part of the back tire is all by itself in a square.

I don’t believe I’ve had to do a picture recaptcha in the last 3+ years. It’s not excessively often but lately it seems the machines want just a simple “check this box” to confirm you are human.

Wonder what will happen when skynet no longer wants to grant humans access 🤔
