Again running the ball to kill the clock and it established a TD and gave us momentum. There was still 6:43 left in the game but that TD gave our D momentum and confidence to shut Colorado down.

It has worked out in our favor. When we played OU in Lincoln they had a really good rush defense too and we decided to run the ball and that seemed to work out. I'm just saying at this point in the season the running game has been working in our favor that Lees passing ability and our receivers dropping passes.

the problem with Wats is that in our loses he would throw in the first half and we would get behind and then he would run the second half. i do not know, he is either predictable, or does the exact opposite of what he should do.

but yes, run and run hard, pass sparingly and smart and hope the 'd' can give us good field position and hold them to 3 and outs or field goals. (i hope mack brown is not reading this because i just gave away our gameplan).

Another thing too. I wouldn't mind us pounding the rock, but at least switch up the scheme in the way that we do it. Don't be so predictable with it. In the beginning we'll have to expect few to no yardages. Once the adrenaline slows down as the game rolls on, then we can really take advantage of ramming the ball down their throats.

Agreed. The problem isnt that we aren't running enough. Its that we aren't running when we need to, and our efficiency to find the holes that our Offensive Line (despite they don't do a good job at opening holes on the line) is the reason running the ball only seems to run out the clock and not get us down the field.

It all starts with the offensive line, they need to do a better job at opening holes in the defense for Helu, Burkhead or Robinson to get a good amount of yards. Helu needs to a be a little more patient and wait for the hole to open up in the defense and use that explosiveness that we saw last year to pick up a good amount yards before the corners tackle him.

And also Shawn needs to realize when its ok to run the ball and when its ok to pass off the play action with Lee. Or use Cody Green on the option or option pass.

The O-line is not good enough for us to just run, run, run. We're already running it a lot...to the point where the defenses are stacking 8 in the box and shutting down the holes enough to cause us problems. This team has to rely on the pass some to open up the run game, it's just that simple.

One problem with our run game is we don't seem to be able to get any real good misdirection going. Sure we have some counter plays and whatnot, but we never have anything that directly plays off of another play, like with that play Colorado kept doing that was essentially a triple option out of the shotgun with the WR in motion.

we'll need both Paul and McNeil to stretch the UT defense. Obviously we will need to run the ball to have a chance but I think the difference maker will be whether or not Lee can hit Paul and McNeil on some deep routes
