Wearing a Huskers t-shirt in Portland, OR

Hi, I'm new.

I started a master's program at UNL this fall. It's completely online. I live in Portland, OR and have never set foot into Nebraska (yet - this will change), but there is a lot of room in my heart for college football teams. So the day I got my acceptance letter, I bought a Cornhuskers shirt. I've worn it a couple of times when I was out in bars, and I have been amazed how many Go Big Reds I got every time. I knew Nebraska had an amazing fan base, but I did not expect there to be so many fans on the West Coast. Also, it feels great to be part of this. Can't wait to see Lincoln, UNL, and Memorial Stadium!

Welcome to the addiction and welcome to huskerboard.com! You'll find Husker fans all over this great nation if you travel with Husker gear on.

Good to know. I'm heading out to Oregon for 10 days later this week, though not much time in Portland. Had to check this thread and make sure something bad didn't happen.

Oh, no, Oregonians in general are nice and very laid back people. Ducks fans are a bit full of themselves, but who can blame them these days? Hope you'll get to spend at least a little time in Portland, it's fantastic town. Probably a bit too hipster for Midwestern taste, but great beer, great food, and great people.

Thanks, BIGREDIOWAN!

I actually went out to Portland about 5 years ago with the wife on a business trip for training that she had. I tagged along and got a cheap vacation that way. Loved Portland, we headed up the coast to Astoria in Washington State, hit Cannon Beach and Haystack Rock on the way. As a Goonies fan I obviously got a kick out that. Have some great pictures from Multomah Falls too. Beautiful coast line in Oregon and great microbrews as well.

I see you've figured out the reporting function. Good job on reporting that AR Husker guy, he's always up to no good

LOL there is a reason why the show Portlandia is so funny. It's because there is a lot of truth behind it. It is a very nice town, but I have never seen so many dreadlocks in my life, no what that is not true, I saw more in Seattle.

That sounds like a perfect Oregon experience. The coast up here is beautiful, and if you like beer, the whole area is a paradise. Astoria is actually still in OR, but Washington is a stone throw away.

Lol, yeah. That was a sad attempt at a first post.

Seriously.

Portlandia is often a pretty accurate representation of the real Portland. The rest of Oregon is actually pretty conservative, but there is a definite live and let live attitude here, so people get along. It's probably the beer.

I should've said we went up to a state park in Washington State across the big bridge from Astoria, I knew it was in Oregon, don't know what I was thinking.
