What about Turner Gill?

Everyone keeps pushing Bo Pelini's name but don't you think Turner Gill is a more obvious replacement if Osborne is the one picking the replacement?

Why does everyone assume TO will hire anyone? If he is coming in as the interim and Reminton is the one who will ultimately fulfill the job, don't you think TO will just be a consultant and Remington will ultimately be the one who hires the new coach?

And by No do you mean.......Yes?

you will find that there are a lot of people on here that will say no but few that actually know why. the only 2 reasons I have heard are 1)he needs more time as a HC(I can see that), and 2) hiring former players doesnt work, look at blake at OU(I guess that means a former player will never work since it didnt at OU)

I'm not saying he would be the best choice, but he certainly deserves a look. and if TO is running the show you better believe he will

Turner is a player, played pro-football, was a long time assistant, is a HC at SORRY program that is improving, he beat Solich and is 3-1 in conference play, and he plays Nebraska ball, and he recruits Texas. Folks might be biased against him, but he does have experience and loves NU.

"and he plays Nebraska ball",

If you mean the option, forget it. Thats not going to happen again. If he was to come back, it will be more of what he is running now. Sure throw a little option in now and then, but your not going to see that as the base offense ever again at Nebraska.

GBR!!!

I will always be a Turner Gill fan, he's one of my all-time favorite Huskers, but I just don't see him as our head coach. I do see Scott Frost as our head coach somewhere down the line a few years, but not Gill.

What? Really? Scott Frost before Turner Gill? Why, because he was a GA at K State? Turner Gill is older, wiser, and probably knows a little more football than Frost. What has he done to convince you he knows or would be more qualified to head coach than Gill? (I still don't want Gill as head coach, I just don't think Frost would be any better if not worse.)

Ok, yeah well how do you define a few years? If you say within 7 or 8, then yeah, a few years....but I think it'd be that long before he gets the experience needed to run a program like Nebraska.

It wasn't Osborne's base offense! It became Solich's when he had Crouch! Osborne's offense's were more I-back centered. You must play these video games that have NU running the wishbone! If NU ran 80 plays in a game under Osborne, 10-15 would be passes and maybe that same amount might be option plays at the most, unless the opponent dictated it. Solich lacked a big time I-back, so he centered the offense around his best/most explosive weapon, Eric Crouch. Osborne's offense was more of a diverse, balanced sets with the I-back at the center. Solich threw in the off-set I, which negated the FB dives/traps and such that would hold the LBs and allow the offense to threaten the perimeters... The FB under Solich was never the threat that he was because of these changes, and his POOR recruiting kept the I-back position BAREN!
