What D do u "want" to see vs NIU... and What D do u "expect" to see vs. NIU?

Personally, I believe our front 3 has proven to be stout thus far, and our LBs are not over-pursuing (which was a HUGE issue last season). Hopefully, we see simple cover 2 press-man; Tampa-2, and occasional blitz packages on 3rd and long situations. No need to bring a safety up unless NIU begins to REALLY slash us for multiple big runs (which I'm not expecting w/ the way our front 7 is playing) AND shows and inability to successfully pass deep.

I expect to see our base package out there the majority of the game. I expect to see lots of Cover-3 the first half, without much adjustment until halftime.

I imagine we'll see the "Swiss Cheese" pass D for the first 2.5 quarters. Just enough to keep NIU in the game. Then we'll start covering guys just enough to pull out a 8 point win

Defense = I would like to see the starting of using some blitz packages that we heard about during fall camp.  I would like to see some usage of various personnel groups instead of always being in our base D.

Offense =  I would like to see the usage of the RBs in the passing game more.....dump passes, screen passes...etc.  I would like to see Wilbon be the RB many thought he could be before two weeks ago.

3-4 is fine, but we need to start seeing better OLB play.  We need to either change the personnel or change how the scheme is run.

We should see a much crisper passing game and harder blitzing team.

I expect to see another pedestrian passing game made to look better by stellar receiving play, and  basically more of the same on defense.

I imagine we'll see the same defense we have seen the first 2 games because that seems to be the defense they want to run. It will probably have marginally better success because NIU...

Just a minor point of procedure....

Aren't "think we'll see" and "expect to see" the same thing?

Shouldn't one of the options be the defense we "want to see"?

Assuming this is how Stumpy interpreted the question, and really not comprehending how defense and men in underwear relate, I'm not sure how I feel about what he expects to see, but it is kinda creeping me out

When he says "think we SHOULD see".....it kind of changes it to "what do we want to see"

So you're telling me Stumpy wants to see the defense that equates to little boys in underwear...?

Now it's just downright disturbing.

What I want to see:

  • Tanner Lee complete 70% of his passes for 300+ and 4 TDs
  • Tanner Lee being sacked <2 times
  • Wilbon shoulder the load at I-back to make sure Bryant is healthy for conference play

Wilbon go for 100+ and a score

[*]Stanley get another 100 yard game

[*]More Tyjon Lindsay involvement

[*]POB play the 4th quarter because we have a massive lead

[*]3+ takeaways

[*]A competent pass defense, giving up <200 through the air

[*]NIU's QB under duress, running for his life/4+ sacks

[*]DPE fearlessly fielding punts

  • He's been gun shy ever since his first injury
  • I'd like to see him break one for a TD to get his swagger back

[*]STOP A WR SCREEN PASS FOR THE LOVE OF GOD

What I think we will see:

  • Tanner continue to make questionable throws

    I think he'll still have a good stat line, something like 20/28, 300, 3TDs, 1 INT

[*]Tanner gets sacked a few times

[*]Run game is consistent, we rush for 200 yards

  • Wilbon breaks a big one or we have an end around go for a big gainer, puffing up our rushing stats

[*]NIU struggles offensively

  • I think our defense comes out to play this week

[*]I think we win the turnover battle 4 to 1

[*]Final score 48-17 Big Red
