Huh? Not sure how you came up with that from the previous posts.I guess we learned Tom Osborne wasn't very good.

Super conferences have changed things. Back then, we were first or second in an 8 team league......similar to a division now.Except back then it was elite numbers and conference championships.Sounds like the Big 8 days in the 80s.Decent numbers without context against 7 bad teams isn't all that impressive.
"Amazingly", during the greatest 5 year span in Nebraska football history, Osborne did not win the conference championship in the very first year of going from an 8 team conference to a 12 team conference. He was comparing a division championship to an old big 8 championship. Which isn't even remotely close. And winning the Big ten this year would be easier than some old big 8 championships, yes.Wait, you think it's easier to win the B1G than the Big 8?Oh my good god no. I mean, absolutely not.Super conferences have changed things. Huh? He was comparing the difficulty of winning the Big 8 and a conference division where you only have 1 maybe 2 tough games, and no conference championship. He was comparing a division championship to an old big 8 championship. Which isn't even remotely close.

It really isn't. No one is going to consider winning the big ten west as an equal to a big 8 championship. And with good reason.Huh? It's a valid comparison.
I'm a big Osborne fan, who like many Husker fans 45 or older remembers well the "struggles" prior to his last 5 seasons. But yes, my posts in this thread are more about winning conference titles post expansion. You must have missed every single one of TheSker's posts ever.Huh? Look up the record of Kansas State University football from 1985-1989. Report back with their total wins during those 5 seasons. Hint: It's less than 5, including 2 full seasons at 0 fer.Big 8 games were pretty damn tough, regardless of what some of you may think. They weren't exactly playing patty cake out there like teams seem to do now. Guys used to actually try to kick your a$$ every play. I can watch every snap for Nebraska right now and watch a guy avoid contact, give half effort, or not finish or follow through on his assignment. In the Big 8 at least you were exposed for being soft.
The Big Ten has maybe 3 or 4 solid teams right now, but week to week when they decide to put out or not, that number could be trimmed to 2.
In conference. Rarely. To say nothing of the fact that there were more than two tough games a year.
If you remember the "struggles" why all the mental gymnastics trying to convince people they were the same as Pelini's actual struggles? No one of at least moderate intelligence is going to believe that.I'm a big Osborne fan, who like many Husker fans 45 or older remembers well the "struggles" prior to his last 5 seasons. No mental gymnastics here. The emphasis on recruiting from Pelini is paying dividends. If you remember the "struggles" why all the mental gymnastics trying to convince people they were the same as Pelini's actual struggles? Perhaps. With a conference title, I'll be convinced. Couldn't ask for an easier road to a championship. No mental gymnastics here. The emphasis on recruiting from Pelini is paying dividends.
Except for the Big 8, according to him.Perhaps. With a conference title, I'll be convinced. Couldn't ask for an easier road to a championship. No mental gymnastics here. The emphasis on recruiting from Pelini is paying dividends.
