What he can and can't do

OK...we obviously know that the current staff is going to be busy getting ready for what ever bowl game the team is going to.

Riley is going to be busy recruiting at least while he can along with developing his staff.

Can he watch and be at practice? What level of contact is he allowed to have with the players?

What he can do - is he'll probably feel at home.

Corvallis is considerably smaller than Lincoln but having been to Corvallis twice - it has this 1950's storefront small-town midwest feel. Lincoln is still small enough and has some of that feel.

I don't think he's going to be overwhelmed...this is a guy that wanted the UCLA job 10 years back in the hub of Los Angeles.

I think he took this job because it's sort of a big-time version of Corvallis...it's not an entirely new environment...it's not LA or Miami.

I can't find the article on the specifics of the waiver ol' Urb got when he took over "the other OSU". If I recall, Urb & all but 1 of the new staff could be out recruiting while the old staff coached the players at practice. New staff could NOT interact with players at practice & there were limitations on players meeting with new HC/ new OC/ new DC. Players could not meet with new position coaches until after the bowl. It was a sweetheart deal, tho. I really hope SE applies for the same waiver...

He can do anything a "regular" head coach can do. I'm guessing he's doing everything but putting in the game plan. Coaches always wait until after the bowl game to start installing their system. Other than that, it's full speed ahead.

Definitely. I'm sure the limit on coaches still applies so if we bring on a new guy someone will have to go but they can do anything a "regular" coach can do.
