What the heck happened to our lines?

Was it just me or did KU just punk both our offense line and our defensive line. That was on the verge of embarassaing. Thank god for ZT and big plays out of the WRs.

Oh, and I have to say this, sorry about the all caps...

HEY COSGROVE - WHY DON'T YOU TRY TO DISGUISE ONE OF YOUR BLITZES ALREADY. A 4 YEAR OLD COULD SEE THEM COMING!

I mean c'mon, it was easy for Barman (sp?) to check off to a hot route with those obvious blitzes.

There, I vented. A win is a win, and I'm just hoping to keep it going to take the Big 12 North - not as easy as I thought it was going to be. I'm looking for MU, ISU, A&M to give us fits. A definite loss to Texass, and even CU, by the end of the year, may be tougher than first expected.

My expectations on the season just took a huge hit.

You are right, we got punked on both sides of the ball. But you have to remember that Kansas is not that bad of a team. They are really good against the run, so that means if they are good against the run, they have a good front seven. Hints our rushing game last night. ZT and the recieving core stepped up big time lastnight. I thought the C-train did a good last night, even though he had a turnover. He ran it down their throats. I just hope he gets in next week against Iowa St. One question, dedhoarse all I want to know is, what BC is doing with the I-backs. He has some in on some games, and some in on the others. I dont know.

I have seen all backs in every game except Troy (Glenn hurt). I cannot believe the fumbles. These backs are having way too many (visions of a couple years ago).

Especially the defensive line. We have, or were suppose to have, very good front four, including 2 possible high draft picks. We rushed four which is fine, but there were only keeping in five blockers. We need to be able to beat that

Several reasons.

Nebraska OL isn't good. They are improved from last year but they still are not a good unit yet. Kansas DL amd LB's are solid. Not world beaters but they can hold their own.

The Nebraska DL and LB's are over rated. They are a decent unit but they are not All World like they been hyped up to be. The Kansas OL has a lot of experiance and depth. 9 out of 10 of their 2 deep from last year returned.

Ok, I just read on another board that Coz kept the reins in on Carricker and Moore because he was scared of their shovel pass (LJS Article).

Your kidding me right? Let them pass for nearly 500 yards because we are scared of their shovel pass - on freaking play.

Coz was a bad hire from the start and will always be the achilles heel on this team on its attempts for national championships.

I believe that the way the game started was as big of a reason for the play of the last 3 qtrs. as anything else. We jumped out and it looked like the rout was on. I think the Huskers got it into their heads that they were going to blow out these guys and their intensity dropped, and after kansas settled down and started to play like they are capable of playing we were in shock and couldnt get back on track. Any time we did start something we would make a mistake and deflate old mo.

it is good that we had Zach back there and he made some plays when we were down to needing them or lose.

This game should be a spring board game and a wake up call, that tells the players that the game is 4 quarters long and you need to finish teams off before going into relax mode. I still have high hopes for this team and season. Maybe I have rose colored glasses on, but that is my opinion.

I was a bit puzzled at our lines as well as the performance of Lucky. I know KU has a good defense against the run but come on. Our O line did not create many holes and the ones they did, Lucky had trouble seeing or was indecisive about hitting them. I thougt Glenn performed much better. What was the trouble with our defense stopping KU's offense? They moved the ball at will. If not for the turnovers, this would have had a different outcome. Okay.....I am done venting. I am happy for the win.

The problem Lucky has is he goes down on first contact and doesn't get yards after contact. He isn't a power runner. He needs room and than he can make big plays.

I think the front seven problem is a product of our weak secondary. Last year, Cos had more confidence in the secondary, and let the front seven attack more. This year, I don't think he feels he can afford to bring the backers.

Plus, I wonder if Titus Adams and LeKevin Smith were that good. Maybe we are missing their push more than we realize.

As for the O-line, I haven't been disappointed with their play for the most part. They've protected our most important player VERY well. The KU D-line is very good - better than us. Nothing to be ashamed about. I doubt we see a D-line that good again (except for perhaps UT).

Good point. As bad as we thought they were, this D was rated in the top 15 in the nation last year and is a great team.

I could have sworn a couple of times it looked like our D-line wasn't even trying to fight the blocks!!!! It could have been that they were gased though from being out there so much..............
