When 9 wins a year isn't the whole story.

Technically the glass is 69% full and 31% empty.
...and the trophy case is REALLY empty.

I really want Bo to succeed, but the people on here constantly acting like the product we have is the best we can get because of x# of excuses are maddening. He is the coach and I will root for this team to win them all, but he is not above criticism.
Who is saying that?

Who believes the product we have is the best we can get? I think most of us who support Pelini simply believe he's the guy who can get it done and has done well enough thus far that a coaching change would not be best for the football program.

Ummm, all the excuses used for how this is the best season we could get because of all the injuries or the recruiting or the coaching staff or etc. etc. etc.

The whole damn board is full of this. The "everybody gets a ribbon" crowd has made it okay to be a middle-of-the-road team in a bad conference acceptable. It isn't.

Put up or shut up time, Mr. Pelini. 2 years to win a championship. If you can't win a conference title in 8 years, 2 full recruiting cycles, that sample size is large enough to say you will never be able to.

Actually, the whole board is one big Pelini bashing. Nothing but nastiness and vitrol toward the head of our program...he can't recruit, he can't coach, he can't develop players, he can't win the big one, he can't win championships, he can't do this yadda yadda...
It's 50/50 at worst. There's plenty who share your perspective. But you might be more at home at Huskermax. That place is full of guys who are leaving their lipstick all over Bo's posterior.

I find it to be the exact opposite. They hate him over there. Here at least there are a few people who are cautiously optimistic like myself.
Really? Maybe things have changed. It always seemed to me that the moderator (Red Reign) couldn't bring himself to talk harshly to Pelini if Pelini shot his dog in front of him just to watch it die. He makes Sipple look like Dirk.

Bo has...

Zero championships.

We have had I believe zero top 15 recruiting classes under Bo Pelini. I don't know how you want to evaluate recruiting ability, and will say that top 15 is kind of an arbitrary cut-off.

We have, not just a losing record, but a not even close to .500 record against the Top 25 under Bo Pelini.

All of these things are valid criticisms of Bo. No discussion about it.

I want Bo to stay about as much as I want Nebraska to win championships. But if he can't start getting it done soon, then it's time for a change. Bo said it himself, he came here to win championships. Year 7, long enough to place your program where you want it to be. We'll see what we do.

What a load.

Nobody has said this is the best we can do. But, we do live in reality that some things affected the outcome of the year other than....we suck.

IMO Huskermax is way worse than this board. Huskermax is dominated by the Boleavers as they say with GFOA, ColoRed, Big'D, Pops, SSO being the most vocal. Sure there are sunshine pumpers, but they get ridiculed badly by the Haters. These guys will say they are just being realistic or showing what reality is. I disagree with their reality. The reality is that Nebraska football is not as great as anyone wants it to be right now, but it is not as bad as some want you to think.

That's why I came over to this board to read a little more even keeled stuff.

I don't really go to other Husker boards, but I have to wonder - do people on other boards discuss members of this board like this? I've never set foot (proverbially) in Huskermax's forums but I know the name of their moderator (Red Reign), and I think that's kinda weird.

Or maybe I'm just weird.

I've said in numerous places on this board that we should give Bo the same amount of time we gave TO and that means 2 more seasons (2015 and 2016). After that, I'll be ready for a change.
Fair enough. If two years come and go with no hardware will your opinion change? As in . . . will you wish that we had moved in a different direction instead of wasting two more years in 4 loss purgatory?

I'm kind of in that same boat, but I won't regret having two more years of "purgatory" if they're as exciting as the last few years. While the losses have been disheartening, there have been some pretty high "highs."

So if we have two more years of the same, I won't be upset that we kept Bo.

That's not to say I'm satisfied. I just see merit to our last few years of football. As frustrated as I've been, it's also been a hell of a lot of fun.

I see. I think I would/will find myself feeling like we've wasted more time and slipped even further from relevance.

Honestly, I'm the exact opposite. The highs haven't been high but the lows have been low and generally unsurprising. I know quite a few die hard long time season ticket holders who feel similarly and chose to not buy tickets for 2014.

(Cue the "not real fans" comments!) What it tells me is that there is a real problem.

A problem with them? A problem with the team? Or a problem with both?

Yes, my opinion will change. Unless we have a conference title or a really good record and high ranking at the end of the year...I'll be disappointed.
Well, let's hope that the Huskers win big, eh?
