Where does this leave us??

Herian is considering a redshirt this year.

Nebraska standout tight end Matt Herian's chances of returning to the practice field this spring become slimmer by the day.

In fact, there's a chance Herian will sit out the 2005 season as a redshirt, Husker offensive coordinator Jay Norvell said Monday.

"Matt has a redshirt year left, so that's certainly a possibility," Norvell said. "You wouldn't want to waste his redshirt if he's not right physically. This game's too hard to play if you're not 100 percent healthy.

"We just want him to be totally healed up before he really starts rigorously training to get back on the field."

Who do we have to back up Herian?? Any pass receiving tight ends?

I think the juco kid is considered to be as good if not better than Herian. Time will tell on that scenario. He is suppose to catch as well and block much better. That is what they are looking for this year. I hate to see Matt lost, but it is a position we can afford to lose it looks like. Either way I hope heals fast and this is a non issue.

Only problem is he's not here. Can he pick up the system quick enough?

The way Herian was used last year, it really doesnt matter.

They never got the ball to him after about the 4th game, and they managed to turn an All American caliber player into a role player.

COuld it be the other teams triple teamed him and no one else stepped up?

I agree with your side of the story. It seems he was never open the last few games before his injury.

He didn't even play offense at his juco did he?

How good of a view do you have from your seats?

No, he didn't according to the OWH.

This would really suck if Herian took a red shirt year. How long does it take to come back from a broken leg and wrist? It's been months...

They are in the middle of the North Endzone so I can pretty much see the whole play unfold.

people that say people were open all over the field quite honestly are dreaming. There might be a guy open once in awhile and get missed by joe but most times guys were covered. I can't figure out why callahan never went deep to herian. Thats where he is best.

I'm not sure what games you were watching. Anytime Herian went deep there was usually someone covering him and a safety helping. There were numerous open receivers when I was at the games against Southern Miss, IA State, and even Kansas and Baylor that JD didn't recognize. On TV it was a bit tougher to see the guys that were open but usually a couple of times each game the announcers would comment on open receivers downfield.

These were just the times guys were WIDE open, like 5-10 yard seperations. A good QB should be able to hit a receiver that has 2-3 steps on his man like most of our receivers were last year. 60-65% completions is not unheard of and should be obtainable in this offense.

I don't agree with you dude. I would say 75-80% of the time at least one guy was open. This doesn't mean that Dailey didn't/couldn't see them or he over/underthrew them. Or how many times did open receivers drop passes?(Heiran included)
