Which coach would you want to coach your son?

I am going to leave out Dan Hawkins for the obvious homer pick.

#1 Urban Meyer

I like what he has done, everywhere he has been he has won. He can recruit, his offenses seem to play well, I just lke his style. He also doesn't seem to have a problem with laying down the hammer if his players screw up, so good disciplne guy as well.

#2 Tommy Tuberville

If you want to get under your opponents skin or better yet get into their head Tommy's your guy. Even with all the fanfair of Nick Saban at Alabama he still made 'Bama his b!^@h for the 6th straight year.

#3 Tyrone Willingham

Why not, the guy can coach, he really can, Washington will be good again and he showed tremendous class by not suiing Notre Dame or not suing Notre Dame now for race discrimination.

#4 Chris Peterson

If you want to have fun then this is your team, not many dives and belly plays here, all things go.

BB, I'm just going to guess he meant "of the current Nebraska prospects."

I could be wrong, but that's my assumption. =)

My bad, then I would go with either Turner Gill or Paul Johnson. I guess if I was a Husker fan.............(sorry I vomited in my mouth :) ) then I would want a guy who is a proven winner, has been a head coach and knows Nebraska football. Second choice would be Paul Johnson, a guy from the Fisher Deberry mold, can do more with less, he will be a BCS head coach somewhere, why not at Lincoln?

Just keep sticking around here. We'll convert you eventually. :thumbs

At this point I don't think you could leave here even if you wanted to. You're already being assimilated.

I would have to vote for John Cooper. I believe percentagewise he got the most players into the NFL. I would love to have a son making millions in the NFL. If not John Cooper, I'd have to vote for Pete Carroll. He seems to get a lot of players into the NFL's millions as well.

Of the current coaching prospects . . . boy, that's a hard one. Probably Gill, who has been at Nebraska through thick and thin and studied coaching at the feet of The Man himself.

If you meant in general, then his name starts with "T" and ends with "om Osborne."

I tried to put up a poll and failed miserably.

It was between Pelini and Gill.

Oh well will just stick to replying and Pi$$$ing people off that way. :rollin

HeadCoach:

Bob Stoops - I just buy into anything he sells. Just a great motivator & breathes confidence. He also tells it as it is. Doesnt make excuses over and over.

Chris Petersen - Great all around coach, players and fans appreciate him, he's classy, and he wins.

Turner Gill - His character says the most about him. A teacher beyond the Xs and Os. Honesty & integrity.

Defense coach:

Trev Alberts, Grant Wistrom, Jared Tomich, Chad Kelsay, Mike Brown: What they say and teach, I would listen and do.

Offense coach:

Kevin Wilson (OU) - I just think they get the most out of their talent on offense every year. I also really like their game planning. Throw, run, shotgun, spread, read option, you name it.

Offense coach:

Chris Petersen - Just shy of being brilliant with his offense year after year. Was the OC for 5 years before becoming the coach.

Pretty straight up question.

Please give your reasons for your selection.

If limited to the people who seem to be candidates for the NU job --- well I'd pick Turner Gill. Turner is a man of character and integrity and has a faith-based humility about him that I'd love my son to have exposure to.

That said, Turner Gill s not my first choice for the job but, he is a great man (by all accounts). I will say this --- few could possibly represent NU better than Coach Gill.
