He owes usBarry Collier switched to recruiting walk-ons for a football team?Barry Collier?I'm pretty sure being a head coach of a Div 1 men's basketball team probably pays better and is more in line with what he really wants to do than to be coordinator of walk-ons of a sport he has never coached or scouted. That's actually a pretty good idea.Doc Sadler
I would go with Lawrence Phillips when he gets out. If other coaches come to talk to our players he could just run them down with his car. Wait has anyone said Scott Frost yet?Matt Davidson, Jason Peter, Tommie Frazier - all from a bygone era but they could inspire wt some stories

BenningAlmost all of these recommendations are guys who don't have any High School coaching experience and/or don't have any relationships with existing High School coaches in Nebraska. They wouldn't be a good fit for the job. Just because someone was a great former player, doesn't mean he's a fit for this job. Just because you played, doesn't mean you can coach or manage a scouting, PR and recruiting operation. Playing is good, but they better have the other skills needed. For those of us that have played and been coached by former "greats"- can attest to that. It doesn't matter what you know as a coach, it matters what you can teach- same goes for managing and recruiting.
So, he has recruiting experience.Jimmy Williams would be a great choice if going for an established hire from the college ranks.
Matt Turman would be an interesting if not inspired option imo. He's done a pretty good job at Skutt.
