Why did Tim Marlowe take a knee?

IIRC, we were set up for an onside kick. Since they decided to squib down the field, the blocking was just not there. I think Marlowe saw this and decided instead of trying to fight through 9-10 tacklers and risk a turn over to just take a knee. We already had semi decent field position at the 25.

We had our hands team out there in case they were to try another onside kick. When they kicked it deep, our guys didn't know who to block and there were like 3-4 Colorado players running straight for him and he wasn't going to gain anymore yards, so why risk a chance of getting injured or a turnover when he wasn't going to get any further.

It was how the play is called, for anyone that has played football on your hands team many of your skilled players are in, first the object is to get the ball, the next is don't hurt your good players on the kickoff. Roy was out there McNiell as well and many other important players. Marlowe has instructions in the play to run to 20-25 so there is no fumble and all is fine. He ran the play exactly how he was suppose to.
