Why the demand for former Huskers?

I don't think it has to be a Nebraska guy either.

Just someone who "gets" our culture right away, and who will truly understand what it takes to get to the top.

Also, someone who has the chartacter to stand up for what's right, treat people right, and reward people correctly for their attitudes and actions.

I wouldn't say he has to be a former husker...but I do know that TO is "intrigued" by the spread option.

I wouldn't be surprised if whoever he hires would be someone who would want to implement at least some of that.

I have no friggin idea. Sure, a good coach with ties to Nebraska makes a good story but in the end the guy just need to know how to coach and know how to win.

The idea that the guy has to be from the "family" almost seems incestuous.

I'm curious about the demand, almost certainty, that the next head coach be someone who once played or coached here? Doesn't it make more sense to look for the best possible person for the job rather than limit your choices so?

I'd be looking at places like Boise St, maybe Appalachian State, may the N.E Patriot offensive coordinator, etc, etc, etc. Stoops had no ties to OU, Pinkel no ties to Mizzou, Leavitt had no ties to South Florida. Why is everyone obsessed with either Gill or Pellini?

A Tiger fan wants to know...

(And I root for the Huskers when they're not playing Mizzou- and the volleyball team every match - even tonight.)
App state has some ties to nebraska, the head coach for App state coached at nebraska in the 70's if i remember correct.

That's only been stated in this thread 4 times already...
