Why we lost...

We had 4 potential TD passes dropped, Texas totally committed to stopping our read and running game which worked (Taylor wasn't making the right reads either) but they also gave up big passes that should have been caught. Had they been caught we would've been able to run our normal offense but dropping that many TD's kills your chance of winning like it did ours. To add to that we had horrendous tackling attempts, mainly by Thenarse and didn't have many calls go our way by the refs. Ultimately though we still could have won by at least 2 TD's had our guys capitalized on catching big time passes from Taylor, we had our opportunities to win but choked and dropped the game literally. It's games like that that show were not quite back to where we want to be, but were close.

Exactly, Texas made us try and beat them with the pass and we should have BUT as we all know now after the fact our group of receivers can't catch TD's for some reason. Besides Taylor making the wrong reads in the running game I think he made some very good passes that were just flat out dropped or went through hands.

that is what is so frustrating. texas called a good to great game on both sides of the ball, and we still should have won.

Lost in all the dropped balls, questionable calls, and missed reads, is the fact that we were murdered by field position. Texas is one of those teams that NU NEEDED to win the field position game. Their offense hadn't been capable of driving the length of the field, and if not for penalties, missed tackles, etc they still didn't Saturday. When NU is backed up in their own territory it seems Wats gets overly butt-tight with the play calling.

NU allowed Greg Davis to open up his book a little more by having short fields, and then after getting the big lead, do what Bo and Wats did all last year, ride that great defense.

I knew it would be rough right when Texas won the toss. It was a mirror image of last years Boomer game, except there Henerey and turnovers helped flip the field.
