Why

BTW..

What is the main reason for not Practicing 1's vs. 1's?

We seem to be getting just as many more injuries as before..And judging by some of our Line play the last couple of Saturdays..Maybe we aren't spending as much time in the weightroom..

I feel that practicing in pads at least 3 days a week or maybe 4 days is just the thing this team needs. They don't have that mean streak in them that we have seen in the past and it would be great to see it once again.
I can see Cally's point about practicing in pads though. While our talent and depth are better than they've been in years...I think we'd be hertin' if we lost 1 or 2 more O-linemen. And God forbid please!!! (...just my little prayer) we loose anymore D-linemen...

That said...i think they should be in pads at least Tuesdays...and quite possibly Wednesdays as well...
Here's a perfect example for you though. Here in Des Moines the high school I went to (Lincoln) is rivals with another high school (Dowling) Dowling has the philosophy that they hit everyone at practice no matter what. They play game speed all the time. Lincoln's philosophy is they go half speed and don't really hit too hard in practice. Over the past 30 years we have maybe beaten Dowling 3 or 4 times!!!! They are just physically tougher and stronger than Lincoln has ever been. I think that the reason you are seeing more injuries with out guys is that they are not as tough as they could be by practicing this way and they aren't hitting the weight room hard enough.

I saw an interesting post on that other board about this very point. I won't cross post it but the posters point was that they (conditioning staff) were basically focusing to much on conditioning and not enough on the "powerful short burst"...
